Then my best tip is to use the tappedout deck search function. Type in the commander field which commander you wish to search for and then choose to sort the decks by score (descending). Even though it might not be the most competitive version of the deck, the highly upvoted decks are usually very optimized and strong decks. Otherwise you can put competitive in the hubs search to limit your results to competitive decks, but i haven't had as great success with that as with the first option :)

Hope this could be useful, and there are often made decks with fast updates to optimize them within the first week of the card being spoiled :)

Oh I do that, I just generally find sub-par decks with it, even with the competitve hubs... yeah it's kinda sad. :/

Same. "Compeitive" on this site seems to be more subjective than showing off tried-and-true methods.

I have been spending a bit of time looking into Aurelia, the Warleader decks and have put this list together:

Bed Hair: cEDH Edition

which I would like to submit as there is currently no deck listed for Aurelia.

I would also love to get feedback on the deck if people have time.

I think The Scarab God deserves to be at least Tier 2.5, especially considering Sedris is 2.5 and Scarab is better than he is imo. You simply cannot underestimate the the power of being able toreanimate blue creatures at instant speed. An uncounterable Jin-Git reanimated at the end of someone's turn? Yes plz. Keeper of Keys at the end of your opponents turn to give your creatures unblockable and of course all the counterspell creatures like Ulamog's Nullifier and Draining Whelk who will win the counter war before it starts. Also, Torrential Gearhulk/Snapcaster Mage make fantastic instant speed reanimation targets.

Also did I mention that you get to scry x every upkeep and drain life AND it has pseudo protection. Just so much value here

Not to rain on your parade because I really like Scarab God, but his draw and scry are based on having zombies in play. Without a board, it doesn't do anything. Also, he costs 4 to reanimate; for that cost, you might as well just be running the competitive suite of counterspells since you are in UB anyway if you think creature based counter magic is the solution. Third, while I agree that he is strong in a reanimator shell as you've described, UB also reanimates faster via a whole selection of reanimate spells that cost you less than 4. Also, he's a 5 cost legendary, which isn't exactly faster than Sedris by enough for the drawbacks. Sedris has access to red, which allows him to run the Kiki-Jiki combo, which is a reliable game ender, and allows you to reanimate your creatures for 3 mana instead of 4. I'd say the differences favor Sedris pretty handily.

n0bunga I don't know how often the people managing the list log in on tappedout but it's been a really long time since actual updates have been made, even obvious ones that would be just a copy paste action for anyone who has access to this list. For example, it was battlebond release when I commented that Ramos example list links to the wrong commander...when was the release date again? Anyone of us commenting here could have made such updates and corrections that need no big discussion.

What Winterblast said was pretty accurate, I mean, I understand if they have lives outside of tappedout, no problem if they rarely check up on it, but at least it appears to a lot of us that they haven't been on at all in over a month. Could just be perception though.

The question is, if people are added to edit the list, which isn't cared for, who adds the additional people? xD

The real solution would be for the new curator to create a new list, and to port the content from here over to there, and advertise it in the comments. Would be nice to know if they were ever coming back, since they said Soon^tm 5 weeks ago.

Again, Xira Arien has been performing very well in the new Ranked EDH games on discord, hovering around a 40% winrate after 25-ish games. She definitely deserves a bump to Tier 2.

buildingadeck can I see the deck that got Xira Arien a 40% win rate? What decks did you go against to?

August 16, 2018 2:45 p.m.

buildingadeck says... #13

It's the linked deck in decklists. I need to update the record as of the past couple days (had 4 straight losses sadly), but overall, the deck has been quite good. Struggles in mono-blue.meta, but when it's in a pod of interactive combo and soft stax it has great game.

Soren841 I can't say you are wrong... but that was a little harsh, don't you think?

ChibiNature Animar is a powerful commander, one with high resilience to non-creature based stax like Thorn of Amethyst, Thalia, Guardian of Thraben, Glowrider, and Vryn Wingmare, and Animar is very fast, winning turns 3-4 with the ability to play through the mid-game turns 5-7 with a decent chance, however is can't win nearly as fast as the other speedy combo lists, and due to that it just isn't tier 1 on speed alone. It also normally requires it's commander to win, and though Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker lines are a powerful asset to the deck, paying ~8 mana for them, or even 4 mana with Animar on the field is still not as fast.

The deck also doesn't have the same exact protection other lists in more colors do. Having access to white like Thrasios, Triton Hero/Tymna the Weaver lists do means no cards like Silence or Grand Abolisher can be run, and most Animar list are too creature-based to run normal counter-magic in the same amounts as normal lists. They still have good protection (think Glen Elendra Archmage or Sylvan Safekeeper), but simply good isn't tier 1. Tier 1 decks need to be extremely well built, with nearly every card being powerful at every stage of the game. It is difficult to imagine, but check out i hate all of you which requires every card to be so balanced it dropped Hurkyl's Recall for Rebuild, and similar changes.

Ancestral Animar by JMCraig is currently one of the best and most balanced lists for Animar, Soul of Elements, it has everything you could generally ask for in the deck, but it isn't Tier 1 in the most competitive metas due to it being a little bit slower and a tiny bit less protected than other fast combo lists. It is still a competitive tier 1.5 amazing deck, and I would suggest playing it to a ton of players, but I can't say I ever imagining it being tier 1 unless WotC prints something like another couple Ancestral Statues that are easier to tutor for (0-2 power for Imperial Recruiter, 3 mana for Trophy Mage, etc.) or something stupidly OP like that.

buildingadeck says... #19

No, I don't think it's harsh. Animar doesn't belong in Tier 1.5 tbh. The lack of black makes it far less consistent than other combo decks in the format, and it sees nearly no competitive play. Animar has existed long enough that if he were going to be good, he'd probably be good by now.

I'm going to see if Toshiro Umezawa is worthy of being submmited to tier 3 instead of tier 4

On top of what buildingadeck said, Animar is extremely dependent on it's commander. That alone is likely enough to keep it from tier 1.

August 17, 2018 11:19 a.m.

SynergyBuild says... #22

Soren841 & buildingadeck To start, I don't think Animar deserves to be tier 1. I explained that prior, however Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker & Deceiver Exarch/Pestermite combo is fully fetchable from an Imperial Recruiter, or just some other tutors, so I wouldn't claim it is super reliant on its commander. Also, Animar, Soul of Elements isn't the most easy to remove of all creatures, so I wouldn't say it as awful as most decks if it is a little bit too reliant on him. I think it deserves tier 1.5, no higher, or lower.

n0bunga, Yisan, the Wanderer Bard and Selvala, Heart of the Wilds are indeed reliant on their commander, but they can all easily win without them, and if they do get bounced, though it slows them in most games, cards like Concordant Crossroads can mean they get right back into the game with little diruption in their game-plan. Honestly I don't pilot Yisan, only Selvala, but I have been told they are extremely similar Brostorm lists, so I might be wrong.

I wouldn't say they easily win without their commanders, the decks are built around them after all. Sure it's possible but not easy..

Sek'Kuar, Deathkeeper food chain

From what I believe, it's a competitive jund deck. When play testing, the combo is assembled no later than turn 6
