Hi guys,

Cool update - I appreciate the work ya'll put in to take this thing to next level!

A question on Godo, Bandit Warlord...seems to be the only Commander listed as High Power here that appear on Average Dragon's Primary Database tab (listed there ahead of Animar, Brago, Circu, Derevi, GAAIV, Ghave, Jhoira, Jodah, Narset, Oona, Thar, and Taigam). Godo is similar / on par with Sidisi, Undead Tyrant or Narset, Enlightened Mentor; its current placement seems like an error that should be fixed.

Otherwise great work!

Also noticed Toshiro Umezawa in Casual. He's cheap enough with a powerful enough ability to make mid-tier. Arguable but Yosei, the Morning Star might also be good enough for mid-tier with lock combos like Lifeline. Everything else in Casual looks fine though. Keep up the good work!

I have a semi-competitive/semi-casual Toshiro deck on the site that I know isn't optimal and built to it's fullest potential. However, I agree that he belongs in the mid-power category, especially a deck more heavy into Reanimator than Spellslinger like mine. I could be biased in saying so because he was my first commander that I built a deck around, but I will say that my deck has evolved to play more competitively against higher-power generals and I believe it does a pretty good job at holding its own against them, check it out if you get a chance. The win-con is a bit fragile admittedly, but it is capable of pulling off a well timed big mana Exsanguinate or Torment of Hailfire and I think mid-power is an appropriate listing since I understand that category is rather equivalent to semi-competitive generals.

Yeah my brother has a super tuned deck (his favorite by far, literally is making a collection of every version of every black instant ever printed because of it) and it can be hard to beat even when you're playing a non-creature based deck.

Just an FYI, Saffi Eriksdotter is also missing from the list.

Zacama, Primal Calamity is also missing! Should at least be a High Power in my opinion, the board control is disgusting and the card itself can make ifninite combos

Woops I completely missed Zacama in the Mid Power section, thats a damn shame

Toshiro has been moved to Mid.

enpc

Saffi has been added to Mid.

ShaperSavant: Thanks for that. Granted I am a bit biased but I would have thoguht that Saffi would fall under High Power. She's not competitive however can comfortably be lethal from about turn 5-6, which feels like it fits in High Power, Point B.

Is there a Tymna the Weaver list yet?

I can appreciate the new changes to the divisions, much more intuitive and informative then a simple tiering solution providing more meaning to placement, and more clear ways of defining a commanders proper placement then "how'd the meta game shake out? okay put it in tier sh*t n' then leave it there"

and of course i'm loving Teeg's placement in "high power", very befitting and sort of ironic, if not literally the embodiment of irony.

I was thinking that too lol but then I realized Enivid was actually pointing out the typo in category 0. "Maxmium" should be "Maximum".

This is probably a bit of my personal bias since I ran the deck but another possible deck list for Thrasios, Triton Hero and Vial Smasher the Fierce partner commanders could be a Worldgorger Dragon combo list that uses the infinite mana you generate from rocks and lands to LabMan win with Thrasios's ability. The list is very similar to Kess Consultation just with the addition of green mana and an extra outlet to draw/mill the deck in the command zone.

Food Chain. Infinite mana outlets that win without sacrifice outlet, haste enablers, or extra turns are better than ones that need them, that is why ishkanah is better.

n0bunga you know Food Chain mana has tp be on creatures, right? You can't use it on abilities, you can reuse the etb with fc though.

Definitely missing that AdNaus Ayli is competitive tier level.

chopsueyrice posting a cEDH list might help make your case more than talking about it. If there's an Ayli AdNaus build on par with Sidisi, Undead Vizier then we're talking about a new placement. Mid-Power otherwise seems relatively appropriate, but I could see a bump to High-Power with a provided list.

To reach that competitive level though Ayli is contested by Sidisi which is incredibly more consistent in a one-card win-con deck since she tutors for AdNaus upon ETB and Ayli doesn't offer that kind of built-in support. Just my thoughts. I think Mid-Power is a fine placement but I would still like to see a list.

and just a side note, don't misinterpret "mid-power" and "high-power" as not being competitive viable. Just because you don't see Ayli or any other general listed as "competitive" or as highly ranked as you want it to be doesn't mean that it isn't good in a competitive environment. It has to meet the qualifications and criteria of the described category. I think these categories are very clear and concise with the material that they're ranking generals on so please keep that in mind when you make suggestions because it has to meet certain standards described in each category.

Why is radha under ruric thar? She seems like she is a better general to helm a stax list because of how much she overshoots parity on her own spheres. And she can start doing the making big mana thing earlier than thar can start punching people for tutoring. Her soft lock into beats strategy seems stronger/just as strong is all

October 13, 2018 9:42 a.m.

SynergyBuild says... #22

I agree that Thar is worse than Rahda overall in terms of which deck can hold the best deck, so I would put them equal, because neither are that much better than the other.

some changes I would make:

Godo, Bandit Warlord >> Competitive

Grand Warlord Radha >> Competitive

Arjun, the Shifting Flame >> High Power

Chainer, Dementia Master >> High Power

Dango says... #24

HezTheGod if you could please elaborate a bit and/or provide lists instead of just making the suggestions it would be greatly appreciated for us as well as the mods to understand your reasoning. I agree that Godo Helm could qualify as competitive, and mods have stated earlier that his placement is in the process of being reassessed. I also agree that Grand Warlord Radha is comparable to Ruric Thar, the Unbowed for a Stax list, but I can't say for certain where I would place either of them. Arjun, the Shifting Flame Storm seems good, but I honestly have never seen it in action to have an opinion on it. I did look over your Arjun list though, and think it looks well tuned and I somewhat understand the gameplan and win-con, but I can see how it could fit in either mid-power or high-power. From what I've seen, Chainer, Dementia Master typically runs the classic big mana Exsanguinate and Torment of Hailfire win condition commonly ran in mono-black decks, and I find that playstyle very similar to my Toshiro Umezawa deck coupled into the same category. Mid-tier seems appropriate, but I'm still open to discussion on your opinions on all these commander suggestions because I'm not in complete agreement with you.

The Rashmi list used here has the following in its description "Note: life circumstances haven't really allowed me much much playing or testing of this deck since Ixalan block, so this may be out of date. Fare thee well, test and make your own judgments, and happy countering!"

Is this list still an acceptable starter list?
