DangoDaikazoku thank you for the win. Perplexing Chimera your storm crow. I win. Game 2?

chaosumbreon87 I'll raise you with a Gilded Drake on my Storm Crow you took from me and wait for a response.

You know that Storm Crow can't be taken right? It clearly reads:

"Can't be targeted on the stack by grubby little hands, chaosumbreon87, you with your stupid little Perplexing Chimera."

in the reminder text, didn't you read it?

I couldn't help but notice Kaho, Minamo Historian is placed in high power, but I was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of a Kaho deck that has been considerably optimized for competitive play? I am really intrigued by her, I assume the strategy could be around an infinite turns combo since her ability can be abused with Paradox Engine and Dramatic Reversal with a bunch of rocks on the field. But honestly she's basically a better Isochron Scepter on a 2/2 body and I think she could storm off with Aetherflux Reservoir and Sol Ring in play and Dramatic Reversal exiled with her ability to generate an infinite storm count. The rest of the deck could honestly be some hard control, but needless to say I am very interested and shocked I've never seen her before. The inner blue mage in me is so fascinated by her.

A no-protection 2/2 that has exile your combo pieces eternally when exiled, and needs to wait a whole turn cycle is a big issue.

I mean, I could write a list for it... but it wouldn't be so great.

SynergyBuild yeah you're right about that so no need to bother. She has a wicked ability though, but she's probably not very well suited for competitive play.

Sorry, sounds cool given a few more equipment that give haste or hexproof/shroud, as is though...

Dango says... #8

She would need a nice new pair of boots or greaves for sure.

Just wondering what partner ishai is with to be considered competitive

December 7, 2018 11:10 p.m.

Dango says... #10

LightningBoltIsABear Ishai should not be competitive so just disregard its placement.

December 7, 2018 11:45 p.m.

DangoDaikazoku alright thanks for the info

December 8, 2018 1:25 a.m.

whoops sorry had to go answer a judge call. anyway, storm crow is not targeted by anything. your hexproof/shroud argument is invalid. This was implemented in the MTR following a vintage storm crow steppe lynx deck remastered from old school magic. I have the perplexing chimera still triggering, i await responses (reminder for you that storm crow does in fact have the erratta for split second in its text)

Yeah, it was called an interrupt in its time but not is a split second, makes sense. Thanks for the call chaosumbreon87!

Just wondering if this list is based on 1v1 online commander or on regular commander banlist.

If regular banlist, how is turn 2-3 win Jhoira stax storm not tier 0.

December 11, 2018 1:40 p.m.

ThatGrimGuy says... #15

Not to mention that my Jhoira deck runs the Dramatic Reversal and Isochron Scepter combo that can win on turn one.

Dango says... #16

ThatGrimGuy If your list is so good do you mind linking it here rather than just stating subjective points?

December 11, 2018 2:20 p.m.

Soren841 says... #17

Because Jhoira is inconsistent without black, and extremely reliant on a 4 cost commander.

SynergyBuild says... #18

DangoDaikazoku harsh man, but true, ThatGrimGuy, Jhoira is inconsistent under stax like turn one Thalia, Guardian of Thraben, Thorn of Amethyst, Sphere of Resistance, Damping Matrix or 0 mana countermagic.

It is all in combo, and so is much worse than a lot of the better one-card combos in the current ecosystem of stax, and control. It isn't bad, I do quit like it, but it falls to a lot.

I was simply asking what ban list was used when listing commanders on this page. Some of these tier 0 commanders would get absolutely ruined in a 4 player game.

Also, I am not here to plug my deck. I was simply stating that my Jhoira deck can easily stick Jhoira with counterspell protection, so it is quite reliable.

I'm not an expert on cEDH by any means, but this list is based off of 4 player EDH gameplay, not 1v1.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong about this, but every commander deck will struggle if the game is 1 v 3 from time to time. The tier 1 commanders generally are consistent and fast enough where the multiplayer aspect will not be an issue for them to combo out or lock the board down. The commanders at tier 1 have, like the description states, proven to be the most powerful decks throughout the lifetime of cEDH, cementing their tier 1 placing.

If you were to provide top tier commanders you think would struggle, I'm sure someone more knowledgable than myself would be more than happy to provide their thoughts.

From my perspective, there is no Tier 1 commander that should be in a lower tier.

December 12, 2018 12:29 a.m.

These are ranked by data collected from repeated testing from cedh games (no budget). banlist is the multiplayer banlist. and while ive seen many great jhoira decks, they all hinge deeply on the commander. If you can consistently ruin these tier 1 decks, by all means feel free to drop a list for testing and consideration.

Dango says... #22

It also actually states in the very first sentence of the description that it's meant for multiplayer EDH, and the list has the "Multiplayer" tag as well. I think based on that alone it would be safe to assume that this is not based on a 1v1 banlist...

I was being a bit sarcastic, because I dont see how Gitrog, Sisay, or Najeela can possibly be considered max tier. They are all far too slow, especially Najeela.

For a while now I’ve wanted to get into cEDH to hang with the best of the best of my LGS. I’d say it’s safe to assume I’ve learned a lot in my time with them. Problem is, my favorite and main deck I’ve been piloting and improving for going on four years is Titania. While high powered with the ability to win in a cEDH environment, she truly isn’t what someone would think when they think “cEDH”. But at this point I’ve come to terms with that :) This little article/primer did give some good insight into the competitive mindset though, so I’m grateful for that! For now, I’m just gonna keep on keeping on having fun but still being a good player. Thanks guys!

Gitrog, Sisay, and Najeela are slow? That's news to me lol.

I can't tell if you're trolling, but you're clearly incredibly biased and ignorant of the power level of other commanders in the metagame. I don't even want to waste my time explaining why each one of them have rightfully earned their placement in the number one positions on this tier list, because I'm sure literally anyone else can do it for me. I should be writing a paper, but I just had to be the first one to call you out on your BS. Have a good day!
