Oh snap. Are you guys brewing on discord? I just made a rough draft list for vannifar. It's not bad, just an interchangable hulk, hermit druid, brew. Need to figure out a busted hulk pile, but I think that it may be simpler in simic to use dramatic scepter & reservoir... after all, you can use elite arcanist to achieve the same.

We just dm on here and organized getting everyone onto untap.in as a way to chat easily and playtest. Rn the list is putting up consistent turn 3 kills, and already has 3 turn 2s.

I also advocate for Marwyn at a higher tier. I built her with cards that draw equal to the number of creatures rather than power. I'll still post it as proof of concept, but I'm not sure if it's ready for a completely competitive game. Just something to think about.

Anyone know a good cEDH list for Yisan, the wandering bard?

MagickedOne there's one in the description listed under "Maximum Power".

I’ve heard about Prime Speaker Vannifar being banned before and I just don’t get it. It’s definitely either T1 or T2 but not bannable if Hermit Druid and Flash Hulk are still legal.

both of those decks do have a big difference than Vannifar... they all require tutors, and don't just work off of the command zone and a dork.

I'm not saying she deserves a ban, just that the committee probably will

Well, they haven't banned p-engine, or done much of anything recently, so I'd doubt it. Not impossible.

Watch out what you say everyone. Sheleon’s hate of the Engine might yet bear fruit...

Vannifar has the unique property of being a legendary creature. Everyone has seen that there is a two-tier system in terms of analyzing cards. If they are constantly accessible via the command zone, they are looked at with a TON more scrutiny than cards that are merely part of the 99. Paradox Engine, etc. are all cards that have to rely on other cards to not only get to them, but to also go off once they are in play. They also aren't breaking standard games of EDH on accident. Cards like Leovold, Braids, Rofellos, etc. provide an incredibly strong effect that is reliable, and that you always have access to. I think Sheldon tries to avoid banning cards that are purely competitive. Where Paradox Engine might be winning competitive games, it isn't breaking normal EDH games. Conversely, it is going to be really likely that Vannifar is widely played, and does break normal EDH games. I could see there being potential that she gets banned because of the instant winning that she enables with minimal setup.

My problem with that logic is there isnt a whole lot of ways to give your creatures haste in vannifar. the biggest threats in casual play would be bringing out terrastodon or something and even then is not that backbreaking. i dont see her getting banned when we have momir vig which does about the same thing in casual play

RivenEsq hit the nail on the head. I couldn't have said it better myself.

Also considering that the last thing that was banned was Leovold who got banned because of how unfun and unfair games would become after the lock, I doubt that a commander similar to Momir Vig would get banned.

I would like to submit my Oona list for consideration, as a non-storm option.
I know the current list on here is storm oriented, but my build averages turn 3.5 when goldfishing, and does quite well in my meta, and has surprising resiliency.
Whether or not having a non-storm option is considered necessary, I don't know, but having more than one option certainly can't hurt.
Thanks guys!

chaosumbreon87, Momir requires you to cast spells, and cast the creature you tutor, and is 5 mana.

think the point was missed. cards are banned if they themselves warp the game without needing to be built around (leovold, prophet of kruphix). not too much is put into cedh, casuals arent putting that low of a cost deck so ad naus is fine, dd needs to be built around, hulk SORTA needs to be built upon. do i agree with the banlist, hit and miss. the point of my comparison is that on its own, its a fair exchange. like momir.

Can someone tell me why Prophet of Kruphix isn't banned on MTGO commander but strip mine is, on that subject?
In any case, I'd say that, for some things, it's not overpowered if everyone has access to it, but I can understand WOTC not wanting even the Cedh meta to be dominated by ridiculous turn-1 combos (even though there are still some of those in the format, anyhow).
