I think Hope of Ghirapur has several ways to combo. What people haven't seemed to think of yet is giving creatures flash (or other legendary spells if there are ways to give them flash) with cards like Vivien, Champion of the Wilds and abusing his ability on opponents turns.

The set has been released for a week, what would you expect? It takes time to properly assess the legendaries from this set, aswell looking to the current list for other legendaries who might need a tier change. Just be a little patient, they're no robots ;)

Yeah, I know it will take a while, I just can't wait to see what grumgully is placed at. I have so many neat ideas for him but I gotta finish paying off some debt and then get my halloween deck finished. still need a hellfire for it lol.

Some of these cards I don't understand how they're so high on the list or so low. Like Edgar Markov is tier 4? That deck is STUPID fast and kills opponents so quickly.

Autofigure: The problem with Edgar Markov (beats at least) is that the deck needs to deal 120 damage to the table to win. And while this is doable and he is one of the stronger aggro commanders, he is also fairly limited by being a tribal deck. You have to spend a lot of resources playing vampires to generate your win condition, whereas a lot of the decks in higher tiers win via assembling a few combo pieces and then going from there. And while you could build a combo version of Edgar Markov (which I have seen on T/O), his abilities don'tadd much to supporting the combo (in this case it was using a bunch of 1 mana vampires and Edgar's ability ot make extra tokens to sac to Razaketh). Couple this with the fact that hde doesn't have access to green for ramp or blue for control, that would be why he is sitting where he is.

Once you move past the slew of aggro commanders and more solidly into combo territory, this is where you start seeing why a lot of commanders fall where they do.Even commanders like Najeela, the Blade-Blossom , who can win through beats alone, will still attempt to win via their primary combo most of the time. And in the case of Najeela, she is usually assessed inside a more competitive environment, where creature counts are often lower and where she thrives more. While Edgar would get the same kind of benefits here, the issue with the deck on the whole is that it can't stack up the same way.

I would recommend having a look at some of the decks linked in the description to give you an idea of the kind of strategies employed by the decks in the higher up tiers.

Above is a list for Zacama, Primal Calamity . I feel like it could belong in high power as opposed to mid power.

When are we posting updates for eldraine? Also, can we post updates in the update section and not the comments?

Mt105 Pretty sure the Owner of the list isn't active right now, so it isn't possible to post it in the update section

The Elsha of the Infinite deck seems to be missing from the "competitve" section. you have all the other decks there that are on the competitive list, but not Elsha.

I'm excited to see where all the brawl decks fall on this list

November 8, 2019 7:07 p.m.

Just for fun, I have some predictions for the Brawl precon generals, and I figured I'd throw them down to stoke discussion.

  • Syr Gwyn, Hero of Ashvale : Pretty powerful, but topheavy. Knight tribal has a lot of options, but the split between the equipment strategy and creature strategy puts it too far between voltron and aggro. Mid Power.

  • Korvold, Fae-Cursed King : Sacrifice anything? This deck can do a lot of silly things really fast, and 5 CMC isn't too hard to manage. You can run aristocrats, counters, hit people with a big scary commander, throw Wrenn and Six and Lord Windgrace (favorite boi) and do some silly land shenanigans, and even run those old Zendikar cards that make scions to ramp and get counters. I would put him in either High Power or Competitive, but I'm leaning towards the former.

  • Alela, Artful Provocateur : 4 CMC, esper colors, cares about flying creatures, and rewards you with tokens for playing artifacts and enchantments. You're in white, which already likes flyers and tokens, and you're in blue, which loves artifacts. And black is just gravy (as well as card draw). The deck needs a bit of set-up to work, so I wouldn't put it higher than High Power.

  • Chulane, Teller of Tales I don't even know where to begin. This dude is nuts. He is giving me some Thrasios vibes (he is nowhere near to the same level, obviously). Play dorks, draw cards, ramp. Shampoo, Rinse, Repeat. This guy gets out of hand fast, and in these colors, I suspect he will also be on the High Power to Competitive spectrum, but I suspect that he will be on the latter end of that spectrum.

Which build of Tymna/thrasios y’all think is the most competitive and most consistent wins out of all the lists up above in the provided lists by the cEDH players?

I'm confused as to why Mayael, Sedris, & Melek are listed under High Power. Melek is the least of a stretch to me but they all seem like Mid Power commanders.

Any word on when eldraine will be added?

November 26, 2019 11:26 a.m.

ForsakenxEDHx says... #24

Zenaku17 usually takes them a month after release, however these guys are very unreliable and hardly active at best. Just build and play what you want, these guys are hardly the final word of how strong a given commander is.

Since the banning of Paradox Engine completely crippled the Jhoira deck, shouldn't it be lower in power now? can it even be considered competitive? I was gonna build one, but then they banned the most important piece in the deck and it's pretty much dead, so many of the combos in the deck rely on PE. There are still some left, but it looks pretty dead without PE in my opinion.
