A) Valakut Invoker is red. Did you mean Bloodrite Invoker?

B) Devoted Druid + Quillspike on Necrotic Ooze is not infinite mana, just an infinitely large Necrotic Ooze.

C) You're missing Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon to give Necrotic Ooze haste.

Just use Pili-Pala and Palladium Myr dude. It's infinite mana of any color, and since they're both mana abilities you can generate it without passing priority.

Ok, scratch B, I realized I'm an idiot.

You can add D) that's only green mana, which is useless to you if your combo gets interrupted (all the back-up plans so far use mostly black mana).

As An alternative combo engine, maybe Basalt Monolith+Mesmeric Orb? Also, the gravestorm mechanic

Another way to give the ooze haste (my preferred method) is Whip of Erebos because unearth is great for comboing off.

Wanted to add that Buried Alive makes whip very good. With whip in play you can buried alive for devoted Druid, quillspike, and necrotic ooze then whip back ooze for infinite mana.

Also, on an unrelated note, Ever After loops with Sidisi, Undead Vizier to reanimate your entire graveyard with infinite B mana

Ever After?

Ever After is a brand new SOI spoiled card.

Palladium Myr + Pili-Pala is definitely better than the previous combo and I will be swapping those two out. I don't know the skittles is worth it though since you're dealing infinite damage anyway. Whip seems great too. I like the combo of monolith and orb as well. Gitgud frog is great as a combo piece, but I'm wondering if adding stax pieces would be a good idea. If you guys want to suggest specific cards for my deck, however, I'd recommend doing it on my deck and not this forum.

Murpy Skittles in the grave gives Ooze haste for an additional

Murpy says... #10

Yeah but why do I need that when I'm getting infinite damage from Bloodrite Invoker?

March 24, 2016 6:08 p.m.

Ohthenoises says... #11

Because summoning sickness prevents you from getting infinite mana with Necrotic Ooze the turn you play him?

The quillspike/devoted or Pila/Myr combos both require you to tap the ooze.

Skittles lets you cast the ooze and activate him in the same turn.

Wait, wouldn't Nooze just give skittles haste since it specifies that skittles gets the haste?

Murpy says... #13

Sorry, I'm stupid, I'll add in skittles.

Link from oracle:mtgThaen If an activated ability of a card in a graveyard references the card it's printed on by name, treat Necrotic Ooze's version of that ability as though it referenced Necrotic Ooze by name instead. For example, if Cudgel Troll (which says "G: Regenerate Cudgel Troll") is in a graveyard, Necrotic Ooze has the ability "G: Regenerate Necrotic Ooze."

The Sidisi + Ever After thing is pretty cute, with the infinite black from either combo you can reanimate the yard and Concordant Crossroads gives them haste. Of course, you need the Crossroads in hand or in play since you'd presumably have milled your entire deck. Alternatively, the aforementioned Krosan Reclamation can get Crossroads back into your "deck" so that Sidisi can grab it the last time you reanimate her.

I think Ooze combos are still probably the best way to consistently kill a table.

If you were playing in a more casual meta ever after may as well have the Epic keyword.

Paying 6 mana to reanimate something, every turn, is quite strong. Especially if you can benefit from ETB or LTB/death triggers or have a sac outlet.

It has a fun combo with Crossroads for sure. It should be noted that Akroma's Memorial can do it for a mono B deck as well, meaning sidisi as the commander reduces the number of combo pieces you need to tutor. Dunno, food for thought.

It also works with Rune-Scarred Demon as long as you have a sac outlet. Additionally, reanimating RSD and sidisi together with a sac outlet in play is infinite tutor in mono B. (Not that you'd need it much at that point mind you)

I personally run a Progenitus deck because why not?PS I use him as a distraction for my other shenanigans or I just use him tokill all my opponents.

March 27, 2016 7:28 p.m.

Erm...you're not exactly making a compelling argument for Progenitus' placement at a higher tier, I'm sorry to say. In fact, just what are you trying to say, exactly?

March 27, 2016 7:59 p.m.

Dredge4life says... #20

My guess is he likes Progenitus?

March 27, 2016 11:27 p.m.

Evidently. That isn't really saying much of importance, though. I mean, I like Mishra, Artificer Prodigy, but saying that doesn't exactly contribute to the established discussion in any way.

Sleazebag says... #22

Pfft, he thinks he knows anything about Progenitus.

My Progenitus is run in the coolest most bestest and strongest deck ever! It runs ALL the cool big minions! Tier 0, easy!

Everyone knows the higher the average CMC of a deck is, the betterer and coolerer it is. And mine has the highest average cmc ever!

Big Bad Monstrosities (Avg CMC >7!)

This is really nice and all, but it's not really what this page is about. Please, people of Tappedout, if you really love a card, that's awesome, but here is not the place to say it if it is irrelevant to what the page is trying to do.

Hello, first off just want to say that I am a big fan. I enjoy the discussion because I learn a lot about some of the commanders and about other cards as well. I mostly play my Sen Triplets deck, Sen Stooges, so I am very familiar with Esper combos and would love your opinions of my deck, but that is not why I came here.

I was hoping to ask about why Avacyn, Angel of Hope is tier 3. I have played against a couple decks and have tried building around her myself very briefly. I find that she is just way to expensive to get out early enough without tons and tons of ramp. Additionally, she is mono white and has very limited options for ramp. There is also that other angel that could shut her, and her entire deck, out if played first. Her ability, once played, is very powerful. Giving all your permanents indestructible is nothing to laugh at. However, with the new Descend upon the Sinful exiling all creatures instead of simply destroying them. So while I do agree that she is not something to be trifled with if left untouched, most if not all of the decks I have seen with her are to slow and fall apart very easily to Black Sun's Zenith and Descend upon the Sinful. I do not think that she belongs in the same tier as my beautiful Sen Triplets. At the same time, moving her down a tier seems like it might not be the best idea because she is still pretty solid IF you can get her out. I agree that she can be great in decks (looking at you, Mayael), but as a commander I just don't know about tier 3.

I would like to get your opinions on this. Y'all seem to have a much greater knowledge of the cards these days. Thank you for taking the time to answer.
