Also he does clear the way of 1/1 chump blockers. Silumgar probably just isn't too easy to build around, so there aren't too many good decks with him as the commander floating around.

Either way, I think Crosis, the Purger would be best if you'd want to include him in a deck, imo, since most of the dragons are red.

Nicol could run him with success too

Slimgur seems incredibly bad for a tier 3 commander. A six drop that is good at killing one drop mana dorks the turn after it comes into play? No offense if hes your commander but that sounds like tier 4 at best unless I am missing a great deal, which I must be...

Definitely agree to moving down Silumgar, the Drifting Death to tier 4, just not many cards that can abuse his ability.

Just want to hear thoughts on Mina and Denn, Wildborn. I'm not allowed to say anything, since they were my first commander deck, so I'd like to hear peoples' opinions on the two.

NarejED, As the foremost expert on compedetive EDH how do you rank the tier-one stax decks against eachother? Are any of them strictly better/faster? Is Derevi superior to everything else?

August 27, 2016 10:15 a.m.

Wow I went to draft and opened the first pack at the storr pre draft. Pulled a fpil recruiter. Sold it bought 2 more packs and pulled a normal recruiter and a foil birds o dise. Always lucky. I then gpt crushed in draft because people would gang on me. Anyway do we still need the hatebear Deck? I feel obliged now.

So thoughts about adding that yisan list from shapersavant? My request seems to have gotten lost in the silumgar discussion.

When I see recruiter all I can think of is modern pod. All of the combo pieces are fetchable aside from finks and that's easy to get as well.

Also, having synergy with the Reveillark/Karmic Guide combo is great as well.

I may have to rebuild and upgrade my Karador deck....

@MoxProxy: Iit's been my experience that Brago, King Eternal is the best stax commander overall, followed by Derevi, Empyrial Tactician, followed by Teferi, Temporal Archmage. I rate Brago the highest because he can both generally lock the board and win outright faster than the other top stax commanders.

Also, @Ohthenoises: I agree. Shaper's Yisan list is much more up to date than the current decklist. Same for his JVP deck. Link to JVP. Link to Yisan. Both are more optimized. Unfortunately, Shaper is not one for writing primers, or even short deck explanations (decksplanations?), which is a small downside.

He did one for his budget Yisan build but not on the high level one

How do the new Legendary creatures from Conspiracy: Take the Crown stand?

Wee_Dragonaut Scroll up for discussion on Adriana, Captain of the Guard and Leovold, Emissary of Trest. TLDR: Leovold is a monster and Adriana follows suit with most Boros commanders and is pretty bad.

August 28, 2016 1:52 p.m.

HarroHunter says... #14

Leovold, Emissary of Trest I think it's agreed is tier 2 but will probably move up to tier 1 after being tested properly. Adriana, Captain of the Guard I think is around tier 4. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

There was also some discussion on Queen Marchesa. I think it'll take a while to really figure out how the monarch mechanic will pan out, but personally I would put her tentatively at tier 3.

August 28, 2016 1:59 p.m.

sel is probably in 3. her effects are solid, but can backfire. but she is a combo piece in the command zone, so there is that, plus elfball is still good./

August 28, 2016 3:49 p.m.

NarejED says... #17

Adriana is pretty solidly Tier 5. She does nothing useful at all, is in awful colors, and costs 5 mana to boot. Tier 3 for both Selvala and Marchesa makes sense. Leovold is definitely Tier 1, but I can see people wanting to wait to put him there.

Ok, sorry for late update! Added new legends from CON2, and according to discussion on Silumgar, the Drifting Death, I am willing to move him down tier 4. Also updated Yisan and Jace lists. Sorry if I missed anything!!!

NarejED as for leo, I am willing to move him up tier 1, but I think like many people said it would be better to wait a little for the hype to drop and to see a fully optimized list (maybe I missed it in the comments... if so if I ever find it back I will list it in the description and move the deck according to it).

Again, sorry for the late update guyz!!! You are amazing at keeping this project alive!!!

The Leovold discussion is on page 86 of the archives. Search up my username to get a good place on the page (+- a few comments).

Also, there are 2 Adamaros in the list.

Would someone mind informing me as to why Nin, the Pain Artist is T2? I see "draw cards," so is she a spellslinger like Melek, Izzet Paragon with a Braingeyser in the Command Zone instead of a Fork?

August 28, 2016 6:25 p.m.

Aggro-Blaster says... #21

merrowMania are you saying you don't think Nin, the Pain Artist is T2?

I can't really give you a reason as to why she is where she is, but some of the more competitive decks I've seen her in use her as a way to kill people with infinite mana. The decks tend to be artifact decks though.

Overall though I think she would be a damn cool spellslinger deck. Sorry if I didn't really answer your question.

could we just quickly go over why Geist of St-Thraft is tier 5? I'm starting up in commander and would like to better understand the rating.

Aggro-Blaster says... #23

Noctem

from my understanding he is not a very strong multiplayer general. The one angel doesn't do a whole lot when you have 120 life total to deal with. And if you went Voltron, there is a better commander in that color, Bruna, Light of Alabaster.

Ohthenoises says... #24

I hear that GoST makes a good Polymorph commander in multiplayer. This is recent news to me.

Apparently he is desirable due to color identity and hexproof. The general idea is to have a U/W control shell and then polymorph GoST into Kozilek with counterspell backup.

Not sure exactly how well it works, I just heard that it's a thing from word of mouth.

I don't make really degenerate decks. I just play a lot of commander. So I guess take this with a grain of salt but......

I feel like Memnarch is incredibly powerful. He's basically asking for you to throw all the degenerate infinite mana combo's or broken artifacts and just shove them all together. I think he's at least on par with Daretii.

Mikaeus, the Unhallowed Talrand, Sky Summoner and Nekusar, the Mindrazer can all be incredibly busted if built correctly. Up at least one tier.

Skittles is the premier infect deck which could be merit for moving it up a tier. But maybe because Infect is so polarizing it should stay where it is.

Is Rasputin Dreamweaver really that good a card?

Similarly Atarka, World Render and Zurgo Helmsmasher seem not quite good enough.

I always assumed that Narset, Enlightened Master was the big bogey man in the format. If she comes out and attacks once you're basically dead. And that can easily be done on turn 5 or 6 or even turn 4 if you're lucky.

Mizzix of the Izmagnus is the premier storm deck now. It just gets so out of control so fast. Almost banally good.
