I saw you have Grave Pact , so why not Dictate of Erebos ? It's easier to splash for and being able to flash it in during combat is a neat trick, plus who doesn't want 2 Grave Pacts in their deck? Also, super budget atm.

Profound Journey simply because there are plenty of cards like it on the list already, and it gives the player 2 uses.
Fracturing Gust is an incredible card and has/always will be budget.
Trading Post because it just /does/ so much.

Several cards in this list have grown beyond the original budgetary restrictions, e.g. Academy Ruins

This hasn't been updated in 11 months (see: Blood Moon,) so I think it's time for a caring and noble individual to make a V2.

That is far from the most expensive card on the list. These lists are no longer being curated so there will be some cards that increase in price and are no longer under the $5 they were a year ago, which is the last time anything was done to these lists.

Academy Ruins isn't budget IMO, it's over $20.

Yeah if you sort by price you will see a lot of the cards have gone well over $5. That's to be expected, especially since this list isn't really updated
Also this is random but when i scrolled by i saw Unmake on here? That card fucking sucks, it's niche as hell thanks to the color identity rules and even in its niche it's way worse than Crib Swap

I'd run Unmake over Crib Swap or run both in a lot of decks. A 1/1 is a lot of tempo loss in any kind of sacrifice or stax strategy. The only use I see for Crib Swap is a creature type tutor or something and that's very niche, way more than W/B colors.

you're both hilariously wrong, the fact that unmake's cost is 3 colored mana alone makes it horrible, it can't be paid for with colorless mana from rocks or utility lands. 3-color decks should never touch it. would you really run it on top of swords, go for the throat, dismember etc? it's also eclipsed by utter end which is itself mediocre and blown away by anguished unmaking or vindicate.
unmake is way too clunky for a spot removal spell

Do you really put dismember in EDH decks? I've always thought it was like putting mana leak in an EDH deck. Meaning it loses relevence very quickly as you enter the mid-game.

Also I never suggested it go in a 3 or more color deck, or one heavily reliant on colorless rocks. Those likely shouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole.

Dismember is really good, it handles all kinds of problems for just 1 mana. There are lots of scary commanders it sends back to the command zone. If you ever play against Kaalia, Meren, Sisay, Rafiq, Arcum, Zur, Mizzix, or any other must-answer commander, you'll quickly see the value of destroying it for 1 mana. The tempo gain there is enormous. It also handles various utility creatures (oracle of mul daya type stuff)
Mana leak is actually great in a more "competitive" meta, but my decks/friends don't play at a super spikey level so I'd still prefer something like Arcane Denial, Counterspell or Swan Song. In something fast like Edric though, mana leak is pretty insane
Nongreen decks (like orzhov) have to run rocks to keep up, unless they are running hate cards or prison pieces like Stony Silence

unmake is great. even decks that rely on colorless rocks will get to three lands by turn three. Obviously if a deck specifically has a high number of colorless sources you don't run it, but in an orzhov deck that it works well in it does a very good job at being a removal spell

I personally don't like Unmake very much at this point. You already have access to Swords, Path, Vindicate, and Anguished Unmaking which are just way better. If you're going to 1-for-1 with people, it better at least be efficient.
I guess its fine on a budget, but even then, I like Mortify more in that spot because it hits enchantments.

this is budget staples, and pointing out all the reasonable options is a good thing to do. Like I don't personally run the card because I'm invested enough to have paths, swords, and anguished unmaking around. To someone who's on 20 dollars to improve their deck Unmake is a great card for them to see.

In addition to previously mentioned cards, I'd run any of Victim of Night, Ultimate Price, Hero's Downfall, Silence the Believers, or Sever the Bloodline before unmake
unmake is just bad

err sorry, budget 'staples and power cards' is the title. unmake is questionable but probably fine, since most opponents' commanders are creatures anyhow.

Consecrated Sphinx is now 12 dollars. Birthing Pod is also around 10. Magus of the Moon is 10. Boseiju, Who Shelters All is 10. Mikokoro, Center of the Sea is 11. Akroma's Memorial is 10. Sheoldred, Whispering One is 10. Black Market is 12. Stranglehold is 12 but will probably be reprinted in the EDH deck coming out in a month, so ignore that until then. And lastly Blood Moon is 20
I didn't go through every card but these are the ones I noticed right off the bat. I blame the lack of education in young people.
Nice list otherwise. I recommend adding Shattering Spree Utter End (only if it doesn't spike due to standard). Chord of Calling is now 8 but really great at the price anyway compared to the previous 35. Stonecloaker Aura of Silence
Any good reprint from Conspiracy that's under 10$ like Misdirection Reflecting Pool Stifle Pernicious Deed Exploration Mirari's Wake
