@rathalos3000: Beaters don't qualify for this list. Creature cards in EDH need to offer utility. It's not an economical use of deck space. I explain this a little better in an article on my profile page.

Eternal Dragon makes sure you hit your land drops. Darksteel Colossus is an amazing card, and Eldrazi Monument is a great artifact.

That isn't what Eternal Dragon is for, Saithor. It's for tutoring specific nonbasic Plains. Spending 7 mana to ensure you hit a land drop is generally not a good idea, unless you absolutely cannot play anything until you have 1 more land... and if you're that position while you already have 7 mana, you're probably pretty screwed regardless.

@Epochalyptik, Why don't you take the budget ones out since they are in a separate list. It will help clean this one up.

@MiniDragon: This list is meant to be inclusive. I don't see the point in taking these out because it serves as a go-to list for everything. Deleting the budget list from this one would force users to page through two lists each time. It would also mean I'd need to implement a more rigid means of determining which card goes in which list based on price.

For the sheer utility I'd think Erebos, God of the Dead should be included. He's an Indestructible Greed who also stops your opponents from gaining life and can become a 5/7 monster.

I would make the argument that Tsabo's Web is (or should be) a staple. It can easily serve as cantripping LD for a large number of lands, but even in the rare case where it does nothing, it still cycles away.

Decimate is such an evil card, I have a lot of game experience with it, I think it should be in the list ;)

I vote Inexorable Tide in any deck that runs blue or counters, it can be deadly to bump up planeswalkers, or, like i do, proliferate divinity counters onto Myojin of Night's Reach to make for instant speed discard

Wash Out
Dawnglare Invoker
AEtherize
Blinding Angel
Proteus Staff
Hoard-Smelter Dragon
Realms Uncharted
Ratchet Bomb
Bramblecrush
Pestilence Demon
Temporal Mastery
Pestilence
Pyrohemia
Vandalblast
.
please link your cards and put spaces.
out of those cards, i agree with Proteus Staff and maybe Temporal Mastery . most of them don't do enough in a competitive setting, or just cost too much to use reliably.
some of those might have a place in the budget version of this.

@PyriteBob: Inexorable Tide is only playable in a small fraction of decks, and it isn't very good in general.
@Estival: I can add Proteus Staff , Hoard-Smelter Dragon , Pestilence , and Pyrohemia . Vandalblast is already on this list. The others are kind of iffy.
@Long_Con: Pentarch Paladin will be added to the budget list, but I don't think it should be on the full list.

What about Telepathy ? At 1cmc you'll be able to forecast what your opponents will play and save counter/removals for the right cards.

@Zurag, I didn't even know about that card. That's rather insane for one mana. Especially for multiple player games. I can see it getting a player hated out if you're running a control build though. But i guess if you're running control you're prepared for that.

I run it in a Nekusar deck. Apart from the obvious counter-related uses i use it to know when i should drop my Wheel of Fate -like cards (even without dealing damage) in order to take out bombs from my opponents hands. It may sound like a cheap way to get advantage but it works sweetly.

Arena of the Ancients ? Granted it's pretty narrow in focus, but I've been getting a lot of use (and hate) from it :)

Archangel of Thune deserves a spot. That card was practically invented for Commander. It's too slow to work in any other format, really. In Commander, the use of being able to buff all creatures through lifegain is tremendous, especially now that Oloro, Ageless Ascetic exists. The synergy is astounding. In an Esper deck with lots of reanimation, this is a top pick for sure.

Is it too soon to consider Toxic Deluge for the list?
