I'm pretty new to commander so I'm not sure if there's a reason it's not on the list, but...Reya Dawnbringer ?

What about Shield of Kaldra Sword of Kaldra and Helm of Kaldra ? Yeah they're all best together but good separately as well.

Whip of Erebos is a must for every black deck ;)

@DreamGoddessLindsey: I'm not convinced that Archangel of Thune is a staple or power card. It's decent, sure, but does it deserve to be on the list?

@TheFlyingPotato: Same thing. Do the Kaldra artifacts deserve to be on this list? They have high casting and equip costs for what they do.

@kspitery: Reconnaissance is neither a staple nor a power card. It isn't really worth including over other cards.

@rathalos3000: You'd have to make a case for it. Right now, I don't think Ryusei, the Falling Star really qualifies as a power card, and it definitely isn't a staple.

I have some other powerful cards I am playing in my main deck: Ashen Rider , Hull Breach , Unburial Rites , Obzedat's Aid , Spitting Image , Maelstrom Nexus , Progenitor Mimic and Copy Enchantment . I hope they get into the list, I played them whenever I could play them and they were always good.

I would agree with Mimic, and maybe Ashed Rider, but the others are very dependent on what deck you're playing before they are really powerful. Hull Breach would be good for the budget list though probably.

Maelstrom Nexus is powerful in every 5-color deck ;)

Surprised that Minamo, School at Water's Edge isn't included, allows you to do so many fun things with your commander, use his/her ability and attack in the same turn? Sure! Just pay U. Use his/her ability twice? Yep, you can do that for U.

Pairs amazingly with commanders such as Merieke Ri Berit , and Vorel of the Hull Clade are just two examples that come to mind of amazing synergy off the top of my head.

Ring of Three Wishes should be in there. It's a three-use tutor, and you don't have to reveal the card you take!

December 15, 2013 4:10 a.m.

@Epochalyptik Yeah, I think Archangel of Thune is certainly deserving. There is massive synergy with Oloro, Ageless Ascetic that can pump creatures faster than just about anything. On top of that, there are so many cards that can trigger her it's crazy. With Whip of Erebos , it'll trigger multiple times per turn. The possibilities are endless. I would say that any Commander deck with lifegain worth anything would have Archangel of Thune in it for these reasons. The combo potential is just endless.

Ensnaring Bridge can be amazing stall card and combo's well with Null Brooch which is a wonderful card for decks that don't have blue and want some counter spell protection.

Also I noticed you have hardly any red planeswalkers.

Chandra Nalaar is pretty much like a 7/7 for 5 mana and her second ability can often clean the battlefield of the less than worthy chump blockers.

How about Ashes to Ashes ? In a regular games the 5 life cost can be pretty steep, and you'd likely have to account for it, but in Commander it could be a somewhat small price to pay...

And Seeker of Skybreak . For the number of utility creatures you use in an EDH deck that tap, having this in there could be critical.

Spreading Seas cantrips, screws up opponents mana bases, fixes yours, and enables all sorts of Islandwalking goodness. I also second Ashes to Ashes it's sheer power at 3 CMC is astounding.

Also Swan Song is one of the best counterspells I've found.

Looter il-Kor is essentially unblockable and sets up a spectacular hand after he hits a few times. One of magics best creatures.

For when a player pulls off a ridiculous infinite life gaining combo, there is always Blessed Wind . I used it in just that situation and then clubbed him with my beaters. The CMC is high, but it essentially cuts that player's life in half (assuming full or greater life total).

Or Reverse the Sands if you want to play with everyone's life.

What about Empress Galina ? Seems quite busted to me.

Plague Sliver is quite good utillity card to have in your deck if you have Sliver Overlord in your meta

December 21, 2013 2:07 p.m.

@deckprotecter: Chandra Nalaar is pretty inflexible. She doesn't offer a lot of utility, and she has a relatively high mana cost. I can add Ensnaring Bridge .

@yad: Ashes to Ashes goes in, but Seeker of Skybreak is not really a staple or a power card. It has a useful ability, but that doesn't automatically warrant inclusion in this list. The card itself is kind of weak anyway. Thousand-Year Elixir is better, in my opinion.

@vishnarg: Spreading Seas is not worth running in EDH. There are plenty of other effects that do more useful things. For example, Strip Mine , Wasteland , Blood Moon , Armageddon , etc. Cards like Spreading Seas are mere inconveniences, and they take up valuable deck space.

Looter il-Kor is also bad in EDH. It's a weak creature that needs several turns to have an impact on the game, and it doesn't really do much otherwise. Loot effects in general are iffy, and the only ones worth running don't rely on combat.

@yad (again): Blessed Wind is neither a staple nor a power card. Reverse the Sands is in the same position.

@Scribbles: Empress Galina is usually used as a commander if it is used at all. In my experience, it doesn't see much mainboard play. I'm willing to discuss it, though.

@Kozelek: Plague Sliver is simply too limited to warrant inclusion.
