@vishnarg: I know Geist of Saint Traft is played as a general. But it's not the best general. It's only viable in 1v1. This list doesn't address generals.

@Epochalyptik, I agree with your point about Amulet of Vigor , but do you think that would make it viable for the budget list? Guild, gates, Vivid lands, ravnica bounce lands, and a whole mess of other taplands are super common in budget matches.

@Grimgrinner: Even in budget lists, playing too many taplands is not a good idea. There are other options most of the time (unless you're going pocket-change budget).

i vote for Karametra, God of Harvests she seems like she was hand crafted for EDH.

I think Brimaz, King of Oreskos is nice, and the Archetypes are also interesting.

@KetokMejik: Brimaz, King of Oreskos is not a good card in EDH. Maybe as a casual general it could be functional, or as a support card in token decks (think Hero of Bladehold ), but it's not a staple or power card in any broad sense.
I'll hold off on the Archetypes for now, partly because they aren't all in the system (at least, I don't think they are). They show promise, though.

Not really a staple or a power card, in my opinion.

Really? I think the pump and haste is very powerful ;)

It's alright, but it doesn't do anything fantastic. It's just a single-target buff.

Was Blatant Thievery taken off this list? I could have sworn it was on here at one point. The mana cost is really steep, but it's one of the strongest blue cards for a multiplayer game, especially since planeswalkers were printed. Unfortunately, it doesn't trigger ETBs, so it's not exactly a Tooth and Nail .

EDH cards need to have good utility. That's why Xenagos, God of Revels isn't a staple or power card. Same reason cards like Divinity of Pride isn't on the list.

I might be missing something, but Lighthouse Chronologist seems very strong in EDH.

Would any of Unravel the Aether , Vortex Elemental , Fated Return , Astral Cornucopia , Courser of Kruphix , Silent Sentinel or Fated Retribution warrant a spot? Also I think Farseek should have a place on the list, provided that you're playing green and another colour. I also think that Spear of Heliod is greeat as it can act as a removal threat as well as just a Glorious Anthem if need be.

I believe Kokusho, the Evening Star has been banned from EDH.

Him And Griselbrand. All The Best Black Cards Get Banned :(

Yeh, I definitely prefer Farseek to Cultivate because it comes in a turn earlier and allows me to grab shocks.

very useful, also fairly budget list, i think i have 8000 in my...... joking aside its still a great list. ill probably be using this alot in my later commander decks(Captain Sisay selesnya wasnt to hard because i had made Bruna, Light of Alabaster azorius beforehand, but rakdos will be very dificult from lack of transferable color knowledge)

I nominate Domri Rade and Xenagos, The Reveler to be added to the list. Though not all powerful, they bring some decent capability to their respective color scheme.
Here's my logic
Domri Rade ~ he gives insight via his +1 in colors that don't have a TON of foresight cards. (Assuming you aren't also running blue of course). His +2 is psuedo removal but isnt specactular I know. I like it because it lets you decide. So at best it's repeatable targetable removal that costs your opponent a creature. At worst you trade 1 for 1 which you'll most likely have planned ahead for.
Lastly for this guy we come to my reason for why I think he should be upgraded to staple card. His Ult. Basically in a creature heavy deck (which most things in G/R will be) he basically says " have fun dealing with my army". Especially combined with Doubling Season he can basically make most creatures a threat. A hexproofed threat at that.
Xenagos, The Reveler ~ his +1 is mana craziness out the ying yang. I'm running him in a Prossh, Skyraider of Kher EDH deck and his acceleration is great for spitting out some great cards like Tooth and Nail or Green Sun's Zenith while keeping lands and mana rocks open.
I have enjoyed using his "free" token ability to create additional fodder for prossh, psuedo mana dorks, or just a 2/2 chump blocker
His ULT is actually not the reason I think he should be a staple. It's cool but unless you know there's some awesome stuff up next then it's not always gonna be worth using it. It's the first two abilities. Free creatures and tons of mana. What's not to love?
I honestly believe that both are staples but I am more stonglyfor Domri Rade on this one. He's just so useful. Xenagos, The Reveler is cool but won't usually win you the game but can enable your wincons via his mana creation.
That's my take on these guys. Sorry for the crazy long post but I wanted to put a well thought out explanation and not just say "because they are walkers". Thanks for you consideration.

Geist of Saint Traft is one of the best generals there is in EDH. For a voltron type he is hard to stop and the blue and white are a great combo to control the board. Play against one and you'll see.
