Craterhoof Behemoth , Devastation , Earthcraft , Blasphemous Act , Pongify /Rapid Hybridization , Stony Silence , Defense Grid , Yosei, the Morning Star , Meltdown

Craterhoof should make this list easily. Ends games effortlessly.

Some very questionable things here, one that jumped out to me was leyline of punishment.

True Conviction should be on the enchantment list, any deck that runs white and has any sort of aggression should run this card because it is a win condition and speeds up the victory

This list has been neglected for a while. I updated it with many of the suggestions made in posts 102-147.

@ms: Although the obelisks are playable, I don't think they're as useful as mana rocks like Coalition Relic , Chromatic Lantern , or Darksteel Ingot .

Also, Thraximundar is not a staple or even a power card. It's a decent general, but it needs to be built around.

Rogue's Passage is a great utility land

It'd be REALLY great if someone broke this down into colors for newer players such as myself.

CallMeCrazySam Right next to the green +1 Upvote button there is a drop down menu that lets you reorganize the list based off of different values, and colour is one of them.

Yeah... After going through the list I started looking through comments and noticed someone said that. Maybe OP could put a reminder of that into the description (if it can be edited, I'm unsure). Thanks.

why put in Sorin Markov it's 1st ability is alright second is good and the third is not that good because that just means you control an opponent or a planeswalker (a planeswalker is a player) it is good if an opponent has an op planeswalker but it's not as good as others.

Tezzeret the Seeker is good in an artifact deck. Domri Rade should be taken into consideration because of it's -7 ability four turns where you can get a creature card in your hand and then double strike, trample, hexproof and haste!!

@ ms, Sorin Markov 's ultimate lets you control any player during his next turn. That includes activating any abilities of his/her P/W's that s/he controls. The ultimate doesn't make you choose between a player or a P/W, you get to use all P/W's that that player controls.

@ms: Sorin Markov is a huge threat in EDH games. Setting someone from 40 to 10 in 6 mana is insane.

Also, you're wrong about his ult. Planeswalkers are not players. You can control a target player, not a target planeswalker.

Tezzeret the Seeker is already in the list. Domri Rade doesn't deserve a spot because its abilities are too limited. It's only good in fatties.

Also, Sorin Markov 's third ability is game-changing.

I've had a couple users request that I split this list into various colors. Is this something worth pursuing? I can easily do that, then link those five lists to this one.

What might be better is to split the list into staples and power cards. So that new players can see a list of cards that they probably should have or have some from the list. Like everyone should have a Sol Ring . You can already sort cards by color by clicking on the drop down menu at the top that says ordering and select color.

June 26, 2013 5:29 p.m.

@MiniDragon: The problem is that the line gets very blurry. While there are extremes that represent one side or the other, there are also many cards that could fall into either category.

Color would probably be the best way to organize it. I was also thinking about doing it by monetary cost such that there's a list of budget staples and high-end staples.

I think your best bet is probably just including in the description how to sort the cards for new players.

ya but you will not have someone at 40 life on your gth turn (6 mana to cost sorin)

June 26, 2013 5:56 p.m.

@alexsmith21: How do you mean?

@ms: There's a high probability that you will. It all depends on the decks and games.

June 26, 2013 5:57 p.m.

Even if you set someone from 30 to 10, you're still getting value. 20 to 10 is not terrible, either.

Epochalyptik, you can already sort by color, rarirty, etc... just not price by the 'ordering' drop down box. Price can be checked by looking at the cards page. I don't know if it's worth the time to change this to separate lists vs giving them instructions on how to order the list for their needs in the description (what I think alexsmith21 is trying to say also). But advanced ordering, e.g. color and commonality, is impossible currently, which is an argument for making separate lists. Personally, I think it's fine as is and finding the card I want is a matter of reading the text and checking the price vs all the fancy shmancy sorting options.
