Don't know about you guys, but the title of this list makes me think that we should only be adding modern SB 'staple' cards, which to me are cards that are widely used as SB cards in multiple versions of decks or for multiple archtypes. If you use that definition, I don't think AEtherize makes the cut as of yet (but who knows if it will catch on more in the future?). As far as Tec Edge goes, I have seen it in multiple SBs in various archtypes so I believe it's worth including in this list.

If the list is sticking to true staples then about a third of it should be cut. It's kinda just a list of good SB tech in modern.

I have stated in my description that there are many fringe sideboard cards in here, HardcorePawn. If you find anything that isn't worthy enough for the list then all you have to do is say which ones and explain why. Just keep in mind that I also keep budget, effective copies and different colour alternatives in this list.

Sweet didn't realize you made this list I suppose I should help add on to it

Leyline of the Void sees sideboard play as graveyard hate in some decks running black (ex: Living End) and if Aegis of the Gods can make it on here (I actually never seen it used in modern before) Void can surely fit on here. :3

I remember removing Leyline of the Void because it was weaker than the already budget counterparts. Tormod's Crypt , Relic of Progenitus and Grafdigger's Cage all effectively hate on the graveyard, but are far more playable than Leyline of the Void because of the ability to actually play them early game. There are of course many more, Scavenging Ooze and Rest in Peace come to mind as well.

i agree with buzz Leyline of the Void see's alot of play in modern black devotion decks at my fnm, they use it over Tormod's Crypt Relic of Progenitus and Grafdigger's Cage for their gy hate because it gives 2 devotion turn 0 and can potentially give up to 8 devotion turn 0 (so turn 3 when you can use Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx you've got a huge amount of mana)

I see Leyline of the Void often in Living End sideboards, since it always means a one-sided boardwipe. Some blue lists use it as well when they want gravehate but want to keep their options open for Snapcaster Mage (most notably mill decks against decks that use Emrakul like Tron).

eeeehhh, can anyone else confirm? I feel that the meta and the release of new cards has evolved in such ways that that card is no longer really relevant.

Firespout is a definite one seen in any deck that may run Pyroclasm if they feel they want that extra 1 damage

Spirit of the Labyrinth is a beats against card advantage decks.

I'm going to need confirmation on Firespout because there are a tonne of cards that are better than it.

Spirit of the Labyrinth will be added because of Treasure Cruise . If Treasure Cruise ever gets banned, then Spirit of the Labyrinth no longer holds value.

Firespout is played in Scapeshift

Firespout is played occasionally. It's worth inclusion.

Spirit of the Labyrinth is meh. No one plays it because it has very little impact as a sideboard cards, and dies hard to any and every removal spell.

Tron usually plays Pyroclasm , unless I'm mistaken. I don't think I'm mistaken.

GlistenerAgent shift in meta shows more creatures are popping up with 3 toughness (atleast what i've been told) and so pyroclasm doesn't always cut it when you need it, another way of thinking of it is "better safe than sorry"

November 3, 2014 6:53 p.m.

My understanding is that Pyroclasm is a little better when you don't have Tron or Grove, as making mana from the eggs costs a mana. Casting Firespout on turn 3 vs. Pyroclasm on turn 2 is a big difference. Right now Delver is the best deck, and every creature that save (possibly Monastery Swiftspear dies to Pyroclasm . The same is true of burn, many Pod decks and Affinity. The only place you really lose ground is Zoo and Tarmo-Twin, but the cheaper cost is well worth it to me.

Ash Zealot for red decks? Hoses Snapcaster/flashback strategies.
