Daxos of Meletis is fun, and i thought about playing him. but he is just a touch too slow.and i want to be casting the spells before combat. not after

I would find place for Titan's Strength in the sideboard. It's a good pump/utility scry, that can really copliment well if you decide to take a more aggro approach. Also, and this may just be preference on my part, I prefer Favored Hoplite over Soldier of the Pantheon strictly because he works better with tempo and benefits from the targeted spells more. All that aside though, love the deck +1.

Also (And I'm sorry for not putting this in the previous comment, I promise I'm not spamming) I would find space for Ajani's Presence in at least a 2 capacity. Just in case you run into field wipe.

Thanks for the comments kaulin

I played around with the idea of Titan's Strength in the original iteration, but I must admit I had not considered it when I changed the focus to more of an aggro approach. Given that i think you are correct and that it does deserver a place in the side.

Ajani's Presence is a great card, and i thought about putting it in the deck, i have used protection cards in place of it, but I will have a play around with it and see how it fits.

I have not played the deck with the Soldier of the Pantheon change yet. So I want to test it out before i replace him. I may end up replacing it with the Favored Hoplite I have reduced my heroic dudes of recent times, and having some more would be valuable

Really interesting deck, I did not think much of the card list at first glance, but it turns out to be quite a sleeper that sneaks consistent damage through each turn. I really like playing it. +1

I would consider running Stubborn Denial instead of Swan Song, play it early when your opponent doesn't have the 1 mana available and play it later when you pump your Heroic guys. It can counter so much more and you don't have to give up the bird. With Jeskai Ascendancy out and Brimaz or Mantis on the field, just casting Stubborn Denial will trigger Ferocious and become a universal counterspell for 1U.

I would appreciate your feed back on my Abzan deck Abzanian Death March when you get a chance. Thanks

The reason i chose Swan Song is that it deals with the thing that worries the deck the most, - Removal. I don't care so much about them having a 2/2 bird because i get a hell of a lot of lifelink. But i desperately need to be able to stop the removal spells that come flying at my guys and Swan Song just seems like a more consistant way of doing that.

Having said that, i will trial the Stubborn Denial and see how it plays out

Really nice deck! It has some really great synergy, and the tempo is just ridiculous. I like my Bant heroics, but this won against all of them, even my stupidly aggressive Fast Bant deck, and its midrange brother, Heroic Ancestry

One notable win was when I had you dead to rights, but with just the right plays, your deck was able to turn the tide with Seeker of the Way, Ordeal of Thassa and all the right non-creatures at all the right times, pumping your life back up. What's more impressive is that it consistently had those critical cards in hand, and the perfect mana base for them all, though a little painful.

There us only 1 change I would think of making:
Favored Hoplite for Battlewise HopliteOr possibly one of the red heroics, most notably Akroan Crusader or Anax and Cymede

Hey JediCreed94

Thank's for the thorough testing of the deck, I love it when people put it through it's motions, as it doesn't pop straight out like some decks do.

I agree that the lifegain is a huge advantage over some of the other Tempo or Aggro builds, and personally i think Seeker of the Way is one of the deck MVP's. Ordeal of Thassa is such a brutally good way to replenish your hand if you can get it to pop, and with heroic guys that is significantly easier to do.

I kind of think you are right with the Favored Hoplite having a 1 cost heroic dude, instead of 2 cost could help the deck. I really like the scry that you get with Battlewise Hoplite because it makes the card draw even out in the early game, but that might not outweigh the value of a 1 cost 1 colour dude.

Anax and Cymede is a touch too expensive, considering my other options for 3 mana are significantly stronger, and i don't really need to create a bunch of 1/1's since my aim is more to voltron up some of my heroic/prowess dudes, so I chose not to inlcude the Akroan Crusader

Thank's again for the feedback

Well, how well can you know how good your deck is if you don't play some other people's, especially the more popular decks in the meta, right? :)

If you don't mind, I think I'll use this as a shell for my own Jeskai deck, and play with the idea of using Anax and Cymede. I'm honestly considering buying this deck, but dropping the crazy expensive lands. Ain't nobody got money for that haha

November 14, 2014 1:35 p.m.

Skaev says... #11

Haha, yeah the land is pretty insane, unfortunately they are seriously good. because you can consistently stay on curve. but i understand the budget constraints.

Please feel free to use it, and i would love to hear how you go with it in FNM and tournaments

I know! So many benefits to the fetch lands. I liked scry lands, but it's hard to beat the etb untapped mana fix and deck thinning for 1 life. I can survive on mana confluences that I already have I think, but even without the fetch lands, it'll be a while before I get the funds to put into this, and I'm concurrently working on a commander deck too, so no promises haha. And I'm small time anyways. I only keep to my daily competition in my Student Union (who do do FNM often), and go to FNM myself only on rare occasions.

It being your deck though, I assure you, I will let you know how it performs. It's why I love this site!

I was so intrigued by how this deck could consistently sneak in a win when I was just getting ready drop bombs with my Abzan deck. I analyzed what was really giving it the edge and decided that I would drop Red and build an Azorius version with some of my own twists. I would really like it if you would take a look and give me some feedback. Life, CounterLife

After playing for a while, I think that you should consider replacing Battlewise Hoplite with Fabled Hero. The Double Strike is just so devastating when it is triggered by Aqueous Form, Gods Willing and Feat of Resistance.

If I'm not mistaken, you have to do "deck:slug-name" but in brackets, not quotes.

Question, ever thought about Goblin Rabblemaster

December 14, 2014 3:14 a.m.

Skaev says... #20

hey SpaderAce

I have indeed thought about the Goblin Rabblemaster and he is a really strong option for this deck

I kind of feel like Brimaz, King of Oreskos outperforms him a little though, just the bigger body, the vigilance is very strong.

I do not think they can both fit in the deck though, as my 3 cost is a pretty tightly contested mana slot

December 16, 2014 6:13 a.m.

+1 from me. Nice to see people using Battlewise Hoplite in non-Heroic decks.

Thanks SelesnyAllDayDoh he just works really well with the protection spells.

At current I am tossing up whether i want remove the Ordeals and add in Temur Battle Rage for some more kill power...

January 21, 2015 5:49 p.m.

You don't seem to be too deep into red right now, so you might have to tinker with your land base to make that work. I would probably keep the ordeals because I'm personally impartial to them, but they also provide good card draw. Also, you've already got double strike going from Shu Yun's ability, so adding another way to get double strike doesn't really make sense.

Looking for some advice as to the Dragons of Tarkir cards to bring in

Anticipate is a no brainer, but there are some other really solid options that i am tossing up whether or not they should be included, and what should be taken out to replace them.

Swan Song will likely get moved to the sideboard and Aegis of the Gods dropped out of the sideboard to make some more room.

March 24, 2015 6:13 p.m.

I would try out Glaring Aegis. YOu are setting yourself up for a two-for-one, but you can tap down a creature and trigger prowess/heroic for one mana.
