Love your deck. Definitely got some good ideas for my deck. It's not as streamlined as yours though. Have you found that Mindwrack Liege made a big difference?

Also what about Skullclamp? It has been an all star in my build.

Skullclamp is an auto-include for obvious reasons. Mindwrack Liege has been good so far. The buff is awesome, and the other ability can be useful for getting our God out faster and cheaper

Glad to see you got the foil Rites of Initiation Ender666666. Is it working for you so far? It has won me a few games at this point on my list

Haven't properly tested it yet

But I expect it to be a good addition to the deck

Opinions please!!!

I am considering swapping out Arjun, the Shifting Flame for Deepfathom Skulker and Mindmoil for Reforge the Soul.

Does anyone have an opinion one way or the other? I find that the Mindmoil effect is often something I just don't want and I avoid playing it

Not a bad idea. It is always better to have choice in your wheeling instead of it being required.

Mind Moil and Arjun have been power houses for me in conjunction with alhamarits archive, and thought reflection with the doubling of card draws. I have gone from board wipe to a formidable board state in one turn because of those two cards.

I'm going to test changing them out and see what I think

So far, so good. Added in Breath of Fury as well, and holy-hell does it perform!

Heyo, back for more comments! I've been able to make a couple key trades and have committed to building The Locust God. I'm hoping y'all can check it out and tell me what you think! (Loc Dog)

The new Kindred Discovery from C17 is one I'll add to my list as well. It's not a may clause; so my buddy suggested Flash into Laboratory Maniac to keep you from dying lol

Hey, my mind immediately went to Locust God upon seeing Kindred Discovery.

Unfortunately, because it is forced draw, I don't think I'll be running it. I have far too much fun winning fairly to throw in Laboratory Maniac (again) and try to get cheaty wins.... personal preference really.

I woke up out of a dead sleep to tell you I think you should consider two cards, first one more so than the other. First, Burn at the Stake would be a great way to just off someone immediately late game. Second, what blue deck shouild not at least playtest Omniscience. I played UR Wheel when they printed Arjun and this card resolving guaranteed me the game outright. Just a little brainstorm for you

Ender666666 says... #16

Lol, I love your enthusiasm

I have thought about Burn at the Stake but decided against it as its requirement is a bit steep in here, and because I just prefer going aggro.

As for Omniscience... It's great, but a bit too Win-More for my taste. By the time I'm able to cast it, I should have better things to do with my mana, or the game should be in the bag.

But hey, to each their own, right?

With the right cards Kindred Discovery could be amazing but it's either a win more or die kind of card. Have you had to deal with cards like worship? Ran into that last night when I was playing my locust deck. My only puts were Cyclonic Rift and Throne of the God-Pharaoh

Kindred Discovery decks you, full-stop. Unless you have lab maniac you lose instantly. I'd have to run tutors and such to make it worthwhile.

I haven't had to deal with Worship, although that's what alternate cards like Cyclonic Rift, and Goblin Bombardment are for. Comet Storm too

Your Deck has a pretty cute name too.

In terms of land...

I am a big fan of Academy Ruins. Skullclamp is a great card in this deck, and it sucks to have it blown up, milled, or discarded. Academy Ruins fixes this problem, and rescues Ashnod's Altar and Phyrexian Altar which also tend to draw a lot of hate.

I Also Like Strip Mine in almost any deck. It doesn't help you that much, but when somebody gets Gaea's Cradle or The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale you want to blow it up ASAP.

I'm not a huge fan of Temple of the False God. It being a dead card until you have 5 lands just feels too slow to me. I think either of the lands I have suggested would be better.

In terms of artifacts...

I suggest adding Pithing Needle for control. It can easily shut down decks that rely on their commander, like Yisan, the Wanderer Bard or Captain Sisay.

I really like Library of Leng. It let's you keep your hand, which makes your wheel's that more devastating. What is really killer is the second ability, which lets you keep stuff that would otherwise be lost when wheeling. (If you discard more than 1 card you can choose for some cards to go on your library and the rest to go in your graveyard).

For beating people down Coat of Arms is ridiculous. You have to be careful though since it is a universal buff, throw it down for the kill, not when you "Don't have anything else to play for turn". I did that once against a Krenko, Mob Boss and learned my lesson.

Mana Vault is great for getting out your commander out just a little bit earlier.

I would suggest cutting some creatures from your deck to make room for these artifacts, which I will list below.

In terms of creatures...

If you decide to add Pithing Needle, Library of Leng or Mana Vault then Trinket Mage is great utility. You can use him to get all of the above and Sol Ring and Skullclamp and Altar of the Brood. Being able to fix your mana base or get ready to ramp or punish another player is too good to pass.

I haven't used her yet, But Nin, the Pain Artist looks like a good fit. I would bump off Blue Sun's Zenith for her. You can ping locusts to draw, deck out others, and kill opponents utility creatures/mana dorks.

You should consider Cutting some of these creatures:

Psychosis Crawler will sometimes get big, but you'll probably be beating people down with locusts, and the ping damage can easily be replaced by buffing your locusts more or be out-damaged by your other enchantments.

Mindwrack Liege is kinda mana heavy. There are other things that buff better, and his other ability is ok. Not terrible, but not the best either.

Whirlpool Drake and Forgotten Creation suffer the same fate. If they costed a little less and came out a little faster they would be great, but whenever I got them out they where kinda "meh".

Hey so I know you don't want Laboratory Maniac or Kindred Discovery in the deck, but I figured I'd explain why you don't need tutors to pull it off

The Locust God and Kindred Discovery (naming insect) are on the battlefield. An insect attacks, which draws a card, which makes a token, which starts the loop. As you're drawing cards you'll eventually draw Laboratory Maniac and Flash, you then cast it in response to one of the triggers currently happening. You don't need Flash if you're running Vedalken Orrery or Leyline of Anticipation, but you do need three mana available before you start your loop to cast labman

pyroblade5 says... #21

greyninja that is assuming you already have something to enable flash on the field and Flash still in your deck or in your hand. Otherwise Kindred Discovery is a dead draw until such time as you get it.

Kindred Discovery is just not right for this deck

Have you tried Spellbook and Laboratory Maniac?
