My play group decided as a way to tune down decks and to make them fun and themed we'd make decks that had specific planes in mind. What this means is that the deck had to have 100% of its cards from or picturing the plane its commander is from. Examples could be a Selesnya deck and all its cards came from the various Ravnica blocks, or dragon tribal deck only using Tarkir based sets, a Lorwyn treefolk deck etc. I really love elves and wanted to do something with all of the beautiful cards from Zendikar or Shadowmoor/Lorwyn but I couldn't get behind any of them, then when looking through all my cards I stumbled on Elfhame Druid and I read its flavor text: The bond between Llanowar elves and their kavu empowers both. It hit me; this druid adds mana for kicker spells, it's an elf, it references kavus (which love kicker) and it is from a plane that is teaming with elves: Dominaria. I knew what needed to be done, I needed to make a deck that featured elves, kavus, and kicker spells; and who better to lead the charge than the Llanowar Elf that rides a Kavu and rewards kicker spells... that commander is none other than Hallar, the Firefletcher. This deck features some fun under played spells from blocks ranging from Ice Age to Onslaught, Time Spiral and most recently Dominaria. Surprisingly the synergies are here for +1/+1 counters, kickers, kavus and elves. You'd think the deck building restrictions would slow you down but this deck will still kick your enemies, and kick your enemies fast! Enjoy this fun and thematic decklist. Feel free to read some lore here... Kavu is a mainly red and green creature type used for cards that depict carnivorous mutant reptiles with long, low heads, square jaws and six legs. Until now, they only have appeared in the Invasion block, Time Spiral block and Dominaria.

Kavu are native to Dominaria. They have thick, hoofed fingers that allow them to be equally nimble on land or in trees. Kavu come in all sizes and shapes, quickly adapting themselves to their environment. Their size ranges from that of a large dog to that of an elephant.

From what is known, they are an ancient species that at some point went into hibernation beneath Dominaria's surface. During the Phyrexian Invasion, Multani's magic revived them, and they immediately went about fighting the war. Shiv and Yavimaya seemed to have the greatest concentration of powerful Kavu dormant beneath them. Possibly Gaea had a hand in their creation or their awakening.

When the Kavu emerged from their ancient nests, food chains long dormant became vibrant again. It was said that it took Yavimaya a thousand years to breed them, but that it took only seconds for them to prove their worth. To the Kavu, all Phyrexians were merely crunchy snacks. Dominarians gladly fought alongside them, until the Kavu figured out some Dominarians were quite tasty too.

After the invasion, Kavu have become a regular presence on Dominaria for quite some time. Enough so, to have become entrenched in the local culture. In Llanowar, especially in the Kelfae elfhame, the Kavu have become integrated in the elvish lifestyle as a means of travel, warfare, labor and occasional food.
