Look at all these good boys

Commander / EDH Dog Mono-White

Enchantment (2)

deck so strong they'll need a new power level scale.

based around playing dogs, and playing enchantments that make those dogs bigger. since core 2021, all hounds are dogs, so this is dog tribal. almost every dog is included (except the scary phyrexian/artifact ones they're not cool). a couple unfortunately just don't really work for the deck (i'll come back for you patrol hound), since a big priority had to be placed on making the dogs we do have as big as possible.

when you play this deck, the following changes are made to the game:

  • the "life total" of your opponents is changed to the "dog dislike scale". effects that reduce life total instead reduce the dog dislike scale of opponents. thus, the aim of the game is to make all your opponents like dogs. they will try to stop you by playing non-dog spells. do not falter in your mission. kill them with kindness. and dogs.
  • your graveyard is referred to as "the farm". dogs famously do not die.
  • any exile effect that targets a dog is replaced with "target gets lost". poor boy i hope he comes home safe.

every card is basically based around making dogs bigger. the legendary dogs also have their owners included. day of destiny only affects 2 creatures (3 if enchanted with on serra's wings), but it has our best boy fighting with takeno so it's in the deck. impostor of the sixth pride is in only because they have changeling, and the flavour is cute and could easily apply to dogs if they wound up hanging with a bunch of dogs instead of cats, so they get a free pass. wrath of god more like wrath of dog.

(word on the street is regularly petting the dogs on the battlefield drastically increases your likelihood of winning, but you didn't hear it from me)

as a side note, i think it's often overlooked how beautiful of a card isamaru really is. it epitomises the pre-power creep era of what makes a creature rare, legendary, or just plain good. it's a 1 mana 2/2, and that's it. it's legendary, it's one of a kind, it's just a 1 mana 2/2. no drawbacks, no rules text, anyone can look at this and recognise why it's legendary. it's what makes isamaru the best boy. 1 mana 2/2. legendary. no abilities. god i love this card so much.

any suggestions for more dog synergy are greatly appreciated :)
