Now back at your life, now notice that it is gone.
The whole theme of this deck is to gain life and gain counters in the process. Slowly increasing your health and creatures to a point where the enemy cannot deal with it quickly.
Some useful combos
Ajani's Pridemate + Soulmender
= gives you a +1/+1 counter every turn. So T1 - Soulmender then T2 Pridemate and tap Soulmender, you automatically have a 3/3 for 2! And then the next turn it becomes a 4/4 and so on and so forth.
Brimaz, King of Oreskos
+
Wingmate Roc
=You get a token that's attacking, and you gain 1 extra life because Wingmate's ability triggers on attacking. so Brimaz would trigger first getting the 1/1 token, then Wingmate would trigger gaining the life from each attacker.
Mainboard
Sunbond=The super-duper-cleaner-upper, the one card in the deck that is essential to have. You are already gaining life, so why not gain counters as well.
Utter End and
Reprisal
=The removal cards to make sure that your creatures wont be facing problems along the way.
Sungrace Pegasus
= a flyer with lifelink for 2, allows me to gain more counters with Pridemate and deal some damage that the enemy cant touch.
Brimaz, King of Oreskos=The one card Wincon that should be in any deck. Its one of those cards that not only will kill the opponent in and of itself, but also serve as a distraction as you build up your other creatures. And the opponent is likely to target him enough to where they dump their hand to try to get rid of it.
Hero of Iroas
=This guy allows you to pull off more cool plays since your enchantments cost 1 less to cast, allowing to hold on to some lands so you can sneak in a
Reprisal
or Gods Willing so you can destroy a creature or protect one of your creatures.
Eternal Thirst =Gives lifelink and also benefits from Hero's passive ability so all you need is either the cave or a swamp.
Spear of Heliod =Makes the weenies a bit better, and used as either intimidation or as a sneaky ability if your opponent is not aware of it. Polukranos, World Eater is at the mercy of 3 untapped mana and a good poker face.
Wingmate Roc =Great creature to end the game with. It supercharges Sunbond especially if you equip a lifelink onto one of the creatures. You get another 3/4 because you wouldn't be stupid to play it without attacking that turn, and the token helps with the lifegain.
Nyx-Fleece Ram =1 Health at upkeep, sure! Works well with Ajani's Pridemate and Sunbond to give things buffs. And also get to block up to 5 damage.
Gods Willing = Protection, there's not that much more of a description really
Brave the Sands =I get to keep my creatures open for defence, since mainly that is what this deck used to lack, a chance to block. Also you can block multiple creatures, and the effects stack.
Battle Mastery =This card has won me a lot of games. The sheer fact that it has double strike strikes fear into the hearts of people, twice for that matter. Works great with
Hero of Iroas
because it triggers his heroic ability.
Radiant Fountain =I LOVE this card! Gain 2 life and get to instantly use it as a colorless, it is amazing! The best case is that you play this with a pridemate out on the field so that it gains its counter, or if a sunbond is out on the field you get 2 counters for playing a LAND!!!
Best Case Scenario
T1- Plains into a
Soulmender
T2- Plains or swamp into an Ajani's Pridemate. Then tap for life with soulmender and get a +1/+1 counter.
T3- Generally you want to get a Radiant Fountain or a swamp onto the field, and either equip the Pridemate with Eternal Thirst or put down a Spear of Heliod.
T4- Next try to either put down more creatures or start clearing the way with
Reprisal
or Utter End and swing with lifelink. Or you could play Sunbond to gain more counters. The problem with T4 is that if you tap all your mana, you might not be able to protect the pridemate or other creature with Gods Willing.
T5- Attack then play Wingmate Roc for the 3/4 Flyer
After that, the game can go in any direction, the way you win is either by rushing down the opponent or making them play till you have too many large creatures.
Sideboard
Pharika's Cure
=In case of Weenie's Break Glass. And gain life in the process
Hero's Downfall= Planeswalker Removal, and to get rid of Stormbreath Dragon.
Cruel Sadist
=Because I really hate Stormbreaths.
Feat of Resistance
=For all the new burn cards out there.
Revoke Existence
=For all the enchantments in standard, this is a MUST if you are running white.
Erase
=More enchantment removal for less.
Banishing Light
=For those pesky Plainswalkers.
