So here's a voltron version of the legendary Esper Commander, the original badass:

Dakkon Blackblade

I wanted to make an Esper deck that wasn't all about control, idea is to ramp and get your commander to smash faces. There's plenty of control elements left, but the plan A is all about sending dudes to the red zone.

Alternative Win Conditions:

  1. Tainted Strike gives you the win via poison counters (don't forget that you can target enemy creatures also).

  2. Debt to the Deathless and Exsanguinate utilize the ramp and lategame power this deck has, Cabal Coffers + Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth gives insane amounts of mana.

  3. Creatures with evasion and Swords of This and That can also finish games easily

I had a nastier version of this deck with more counter spells, more board wipes, more tutors and Hatred but the deck felt a bit too oppressive so I dialed down the control aspects of it.

The current iteration of the deck is a bit more casual, it can and it will win games but it needs to work hard to actually dominate them. I find it to be in a sweet spot in my playgroup powerwise.

I would appreciate any improvement suggestions!

Cards currently on the chopping block

Admonition Angel This card has been a bit lackluster, I just love the art of it

Promise of Power I'm in blue so I think there might be stronger card draw options available, I do love the flavor though
