Welcome to Lord Windgrace's Kiki Stax

This deck is my pride, my joy, and a massive work in progress at all times. I have spent the majority of the past 2 years learning the ins and outs of the strategies I have entwined within, having started with a very lowly Maralen of the Mornsong deck that, admittedly was not good. From there, I wanted to push the deck, and built Mogis, God of Slaughter , but again, while I enjoyed the list, I knew I could push it even further.

And then came c18...

Cue the release of Lord Windgrace , my list had been in the works for over a year, and included many of the pieces I wanted it to. It was still lacking, and I wasn't quite sure what it needed until I saw this lovely rip-off of the Black Panther.

Green Mana you say?

This deck used to be a fan of blowing up lands, it has since departed this in favor of a more stream-lined stax/control package. The addition of green Mana was huge for me, and allowed me to make red more of a splash. The deck gained access to better ramp, removal, and card advantage, while still maintaining the win-conditions and core of the deck that makes it what it is.

So what does this deck do, and why would I play it?

The main goal of this deck is to assemble Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker + Zealous Conscripts in order to create an unlimited number of hasty tokens, and win the game. We achieve this goal by actively slowing our opponents game plans using cards like Trinisphere , Strip Mine , sphere of resistence and more while dredging through our deck, using fetches to thin, and ramping in a variety of means.

what does a typical game look like?

In the early stages of the game, while deciding mulligans, we have to keep in mind two things in particular; "can I ramp to 3 or more mana on turn two and have a means to progress my own gameplan?" Or else, "can I ramp to 3 or more mana on turn two and have a means to derail my opponents plans?" An ideal hand looks something along the lines of Exploration , Polluted Delta , Forest , Bloodstained Mire , Lotus Cobra , Wheel of Fortune , Crucible of Worlds .
