+1 good sir, modern blue/black surgical is how mill is coming back in .

Breaking plays on its own; no need to change your mana for the second half. Just swap it in, it mills an extra card :P

One card which plays beautifully in here is Crypt Incursion . Buys you a hell of a lot of extra time for just 3cmc!

@iceteademon: I just started with Mind Sculpt first because it was less mana specific. I could be fine with turn 1 Shelldock Isle , turn 2 Island . But I have made the swap. I also swapped out the Trapmaker's Snare for Crypt Incursion and will see how that plays out. Thanks for the suggestions.

@Goblin_King1RR: I used to run them when I played standard mill back in Zendikar, I also ran Deprive to get more triggers off of Hedron Crab . I just feel baby jace is a liability in this environment and I like the time Remand gives me a little more. If I Remand the spell they want to play and they have to wait another turn, I could potentially mill another copy and extract them all. Giving me more card advantage.

Hello why no Traumatize is nice combo with Haunting Echoes

Traumatize is too costly. I only have one 5-drop being Haunting Echoes , everything else is 3 or less (I count the traps as 0 because that's what they cost 90% of the time).

This is the deck I will be using for the modern event. I'm just working with some numbers and finishing the sideboard up.

I've play tested this deck extensively against other modern format decks. In case you're still running this, the win rate is about 28%. It does well against slower decks but poorly against aggros. I have the following suggestions.

  1. Your biggest foes are aggro decks. In the Sideboard, I added an extra Damnation and removed Chalice, which saw minimal use.

  2. Mindbreaker Trap is expensive $ wise, clunky, and generally useless. It works wonderfully against storm decks but that's easily remedied with extra Ravenous Traps, which fills a void between your Mindbreaker + Grafdigger.

  3. I took out 1 Breaking and Entering and sideboarded the Ravenous Trap for 2 Devour Flesh.

  4. The fog bank work wondefully. I sideboarded 2 extra against faster decks and added 2 more Cyclonic rifts. Ensnaring bridge doesn't work in Modern, FYI.

I was playing the deck with better success when there weren't as many agro decks in the meta. Recently, I've been trying to tune my borderpost deck for a friend to use. When the meta settles (after the Splinter Twin and Summer Bloom bannings), I'll come back to tuning this again.

Thanks for the feedback though. It's greatly appreciated. :)
