What about Jace's Ingenuity in place of Divination? Then you can play it on the opponent's turn. This gives you 3 cards for 3UU at instant speed. Or you could play Weave Fate if you don't want the UU in the casting cost. Weave Fate is also an instant.

The only problem i have with those cards is the cmc. The high end of my curve is 3 and id like to keep it as low as possible to maintain the aggressiveness of the deck. Those draw spells are more suited to control decks i think.

I would suggest either Think Twice or Desperate Ravings instead of divination

I really like Think Twice, being instant and having flash back, so ill definitely look into it. Desperate Ravings i dont think ill end up using, because discarding a random card is just too risky for me, If i were to use a card like that i think Faithless Looting would be my choice. Skullcrack is really good in burn as well. Probably worthy of 4 slots.

Where is lava spike? Also, get rid of lightning strike and replace it with something like shard volley. You could really benefit from splashing white, but that would obviously add a lot of money to the deck. This is modern and you should probably have a budget of around $200 for the deck to win any games against tier 1 decks. If you want to make it more powerful splash white with the lightning helixes and for the boros charms. Also, you can play with the set of vexing devils, but I can see why you might not want to. I hope that bur suits you well!

In the description i have most of those cards. I will definitely be putting in white as soon as i can, but it does cost a bit of money. The strikes and a few of the other weaker cards are really just place holders till i get lava spike and rift bolt and those other classics. Vexing devil will probably end up in here, ive heard a lot of debate over him but i personally like him a lot. Theres also Magmatic Insight that i might try out for some card draw over tormenting voice. So far burn has been a lot of fun to play and i cant wait to upgrade the deck!

It is a really fun deck, I play it as my main. I personally think that Ball lightning is one of the better burn cards and definetly matches your budget, as the foil version is about $2.50. The problem with modern decks these days that are at least two colors is the mana base. Once you can get past that, you are good to go. Also, splashing white opens up so many possibilities in the sideboard such as leyline and rest in peace. You only need to run 2 or 3 shocks, but you should have at least a playset of fetches. Oh man im also really sorry sullyk42 i hadnt seen your first comment till now. Im working on getting the white for the deck, but the mana base is really all thats holding me back, but soon it will happen! I already have one Sacred Foundry too so that really helps. I agree i have never been a fan of the eidolon, even though ive seen it used and it does work really well, especially against stuff like Kitchen Finks, but id still prefer not to use it. Ball Lightning is really awesome, but i dont want to fill up on too many 3 cmc things in the deck, although one or two might find their way in someday. You might want to splash white in the sideboard for Erase as an answer for Leyline of Sanctity. Plus with white you can add Lightning Helix and/or Boros Charm

would remove Chandra's phoenix and add Seeker of the way. id also add more burn to replace the draw since i think that you usually don't need it.

Im not sure i would use seeker, i feel that the Monastery Swiftspears play that role a bit better, i will definitely cut down on the Chandra's Phoenix to a 2 of, because i really like having the repetitive threat at the top of the curve. But i do agree the card draw is not entirely necessary i do enjoy it, so i think ill cut those down too. Thanks for the advice, it helps a lot!

maybe Browbeat for some card draw. You should definitely play some Vexing Devils theyre just crazy good.

With 18 lands, some of them being fetches, it'll be pretty hard to cast Magmatic Insight when you need to. And Browbeat is a 4-drop, so you'll be short on mana to cast it more often than not. If you want card draw in a Burn deck, Dangerous Wager is the best option, IMO. You'll only cast it when you have nothing else of value in your hand anyway.

Satyr Firedancer is alright as a budget card (Eidolon of the Great Revel and Goblin Guide are what RDW really wants for creatures, but those are expensive), but I'm not feeling Chandra's Phoenix. If you get to the point where you're repeatedly casting a 3-drop, as a burn player, it means it's your only remaining threat, so chances are you've run out of gas and can't win anymore.

As for your sideboard, Fated Conflagration suffers from the same problem as Browbeat in that it sits too high on your curve, and not hitting players makes it a very lackluster card for its cost. Chained to the Rocks is enough creature hate for your SB, so use that space for something else - Fulminator Mage, for example. And instead of running Erase for enchantments and Smelt for artifacts, why not Wear / Tear for both? If it bothers you that Wear costs more than Smelt, Smash to Smithereens gives you a good reason to pay the extra , and Shattering Spree hits multiple artifacts. All of those are better than Smelt.

Browbeat is 3-cost, and youre not really giving the guy a choice, your deck hits hard and fast, by the time youve run out of cards in your hand (aka when you play Browbeat), the guy should be under 10 life, taking 5 at that point is not an option for your opponent, agreed it can "whiff" and be a burn spell when you need a draw spell, but 5 damage for 3 mana isn't terrible, and it'll make it almost impossible to refuse you the cards if you draw another Browbeat

I know that most decks dont run Browbeat, and a lot of other cards for that matter, but i dont really have budget for the fullout modern burn. The point you made on Magmatic Insight is really good, and i think ill just stick to Tormenting Voice, it has synergised very well with the Chandra's Phoenix, basically its a free card as long as i do damage. Having that repeatable threat has been really useful so far too, i might cut it down to only 2 when i get better stuff, but i still like it a fair bit.

Goblin Guide and Eidolon of the Great Revel are significantly out of my price range, and i know that there is a lot of value to the eidolon and ive seen it work and be amazing, but im still just not a huge fan of it personally, and even with the budget i dont know that i would want to run it.

And the sideboard really is just budget and stuff i had lying around. I dont think ive ever put in the Fated Conflagration, and i have just forgotten to take it out really. I am getting the Wear / Tears soon, its just a matter of me picking them up, and the Erase and Shatter are just placeholders for now.

I would take out Spite of Mogis completely. You should be able to end the game before the opponent puts out a creature that needs to be killed by Spite. You seem to be focusing too much on their creatures, when Satyr Firedancer and Young Pyromancer, if you choose to keep them, should be more than enough to handle them. Consider Abbot of Keral Keep if you feel like you need creatures on a budget. For artifact hate in the side I would look at Shattering Spree as well as above suggestions. Thunderous Wrath as a 1- or 2-of wouldn't be bad at all in the main. I've seen a burn deck win Turn 3 with a Miracled Thunderous Wrath, a Monastery Swiftspear, and 3 Bolts and Spikes (it was against me, salt). Five card win. I would check it out.

Maybe add Temple of Triumph

I would, the issue is that it comes in tapped, so it is sadly too slow for this deck

Suggestions:

A pair of Rugged Prairie great R/W filter land that comes in untapped.

A single Thundermaw Hellkite for top end, hasty dragon fun.

A pair of Boros Reckoner that makes them reconsider blocking or bolting.

A single Chandra, the Firebrand to pair up the burn spells.

Thank you! It is probably my favorite deck to play right now. I really like the idea of Rugged Prairie and the singleton Chandra, the Firebrand, i could see them working quite nicely. The Boros Reckoner i am not too sure about because he wont do damage as quickly as i would like, so i am not sure how well he works here. The Thundermaw Hellkite is cool, i just think he is a tad too expensive for me, especially if the Chandra is coming in.
