I thought about the Medomai the Ageless and Boros Charm combo that I got in another deck (giving me 2 turns with the double strike Medomai). But I think that combo is too hard to achieve and to easy to counter it isn't worth it in here.

Inspiration vs Divination : What are your thoughts?

Have you play tested this deck much? I'm really debating turning my r/u/w tempo deck into a control deck with AEtherling and Spellheart Chimera as finishers. I'd love to hear how this deck does seeing as most the big cards ate out of my price range as well

I'm testing it on cockatrice and getting good results, though I use the expensive dual lands and since I got an Elspeth, Sun's Champion I play her instead of AEtherling in the mainboard - still leaving an AEtherling in the sideboard. I'm still changing the sideboard alot. I didn't play against alot of mono blue and black devotion decks, I would love to test that matchup more (Assemble the Legion seems to be perfect against them :)

I think Spellheart Chimera isn't too good in a control deck, you need hard to remove threads, because all your opponents spot removal is waiting for a target. AEtherling comes to mind, which is really hard to remove but also demands alot of mana ressources. Elspeth, Sun's Champion is just disgusting powerful and turns around games on it's own but is kinda fragil as well. Prognostic Sphinx is nice against most decks but since you don't have any other creatures it just dies to Devour Flesh . I really like Assemble the Legion , only a few decks have an answer to it (Detention Sphere , Golgari Charm and Wear / Tear come to mind) and it demands so little of you.

My mana base seems to be off a little. I feel I can't consistantly enough cast a turn 3 Anger of the Gods , Dissolve or a turn 4 Supreme Verdict .

Investigating this issue I stumbled over an article that presents an algorithm for simulating the probability of being able to play a card depending on the mana base. I verified the code and ran it for my situation: In order to consistently (90%) being able to play those cards results in roughly 19 blue, 19 red and 18 white mana sources - I have 17 blue, 8 red and 11 white. This doesn't account that the third or fourth land might be a guildgate, which comes into play tapped :/

15 white mana sources would give me an 80% chance of having the necessary mana to cast Supreme Verdict turn 4. There certainly are some stabilizing effects like drawing cards with Divination , scry from Temple of Triumph or Prophetic Prism , but I will give this some more thought and might as a result change the manabase a little and maybe increase the Prophetic Prism count. Other ideas?

I really like what you've done here, though it is obviously difficult to run 3 color control off of ETB tapped dual lands. With Opportunity , that's a LOT of mana. Personally, I'd run Inspiration , but if it works for you, then that's that. Prophetic Prism is a neat addition, I didn't even think of it. It replaces itself in your hand, then it mana fixes nicely. Turn / Burn is very good utility. Assemble the Legion is a powerful wincon if it can stay on the field, but there are a lot of answers for it, I learned. Wear / Tear , Golgari Charm , Glare of Heresy , so on, and so forth. Curse of the Swine is really good against a mid range match up that runs a few fatties, that's a pretty solid choice. Gainsay isn't all that great in my opinion, it's really narrow.. If it's there for stacking, I'd rather have Dispel , Negate s would be better, in my opinion. Last Breath does it's job, and it does it pretty good. There's a lot of major threats with 2 power Daxos of Meletis , Nightveil Specter , Master of Waves Gray Merchant of Asphodel . Oh and in my experience, Aurelia's Fury is a major mana sink. I ran it for a while, and it's just too much mana for the Fog effect, or the pseudo Silence . If you want an instant speed X burn, with a bit of utility, then it's okayish.

But remember, this is all just my opinion. I'm not the super experienced, MTG for a lifestyle type of player. But I have no life, so I goof off at my LGS and tweak my RWU pretty much all day when I'm off work.

My main concerns when i play Assemble the Legion in the first round are Golgari Charm and Detention Sphere where Golgari Charm in the mainboard isn't too popular. With the sideboard there is some more enchantment hate around - if I play against white, golgari or azorius/esper control I play 2 AEtherling and only 1 Assemble the Legion to account for that. I stay with 2 Assemble the Legion in the mainboard because they are so good against mono blue and mono black.

Opportunity takes the role of Sphinx's Revelation in here, as late game card draw. I originally had 2 Inspiration in here, but replaced them by Divination . Divination helps me to draw into the right answers for turn 4 whereas Inspiration allows to keep mana open. I felt I needed the former more.

I'm not too much of a fan of Gainsay either, but mono blue is still strong and negate is alot worse against it, that's why I keep it in the sideboard for now. Counterflux is the counterspell I'm thinking about right now.

A big question I'm asking myself is if I should replace Lightning Strike with Mizzium Mortars . I don't really care about the overload (just a nice little bonus to have the option) but with Mizzium Mortars I can get rid of Stormbreath Dragon for example and with Lightning Strike I can target planeswalkers.

Thanks alot for the comment, I will certainly keep following you (and +1 you I think i forgot that xD). I'm very excited what Born of the Gods will bring us for UWR control. I hope some fabulous stuff is comming our way :D

Mizzium Mortars would be great, as it can also hit the Blood Baron of Vizkopa , and as for planeswalkers, Warleader's Helix is a good answer, if you have no other option. Planeswalkers are a big reason I run Negate s actually.

And I totally forgot to give you the +1, I was out of it last night. It's good to see another RWU player makin it work!
