On 3/8/2025 I had the privilege of participating in the 2nd of three Return to Ravnica block drafts my LGS is hosting. I went into the event today with my entire gameplan being do better than the first draft I did on 3/1/2025 when I essentially went 0-6 overall. Much to my joy, I did just that. I ended up going 2-1, or 5-2 overall. I ended up getting second place, as the only games I lost were to the first place winner. It was one of my better performances while drafting and I'm very glad I did it.

Pack one I opened Deadbridge Goliath and decided to pick it over a Guttersnipe. I then got passed Soul Tithe and decided to go into G/W. However, by the end of pack one I didn't see a single other white card other than Armory Guard, so I opted to move into black. Pack two I primarily picked up black and green cards, including getting passed a Lord of the Void. By the end of pack 2 I had picked up several B/W cards though such as Gift of Orzhova, and in pack 3 nobody was picking up any of the B/W cards I so opted to move into W/B/G to great success.

• Round 1 - Against W/U Fliers - Won 2:0 - My opponent couldn't get her stuff going in either game. Game one she was mana flooded and game two just didn't draw anything she needed.
• Round 2 - Against U/R Aggro - Lost 2:1 - This was great. Game one he got me to three life and I managed to stabilize with Lord of the Void, taking out his Totally Lost from LotV's ability. I won game one, but he absolutely stomped me games two and three. This was against the same opponent I Slaughter Pact'd for a storm count during a previous draft and failed to kill him, but gave him a heart attack in the process. He gave me a heart attack in this game, so we're tied at heart attacks given to one another now.
• Round 3 - Against B/G Midrange - Won 2:0 - My opponent had a Sewer Shambler and wrecked havoc on me game one with it. I managed to win still because of Gift of Orzhova and Kingpin's Pet's extort ability, but he also got it out game two. However, I never drew or played a Swamp game two and instead relied just on Angelic Skirmisher plus my green creatures to overwhelm him.
• Bonus Round - Against R/G/B Midrange - Won 2:1 - This was a fun round against a friend I didn't get to play during the actual tournament. I ended up winning 2:1 because he could not deal with Gift of Orzhova or Angelic Skirmisher. He also took the Orzhov Guildgate I passed and wanted to wheel in favor of Maw of the Obzedat during pack three and I gave him endless shit for picking it and not playing in W/B colors.

MVPs:

• Gift of Orzhova - This is such a good card. This won me every single game I got it out, and I got it out in at least three or four games. My opponents just couldn't deal with a flier with lifelink.
• Angelic Skirmisher - Another game wrecker I got passed and ended up picking. She absolutely destroyed my opponents in any game I got her out. During round four, my opponent actually stole her and chose lifelink, putting me at 4 life and him around 20 or so. However, next turn I just chose lifelink and went back up to 15, and he went back down to around 9 or so.
• Lord of the Void - This card single-handedly won me game one in round two. If I did not play him, I would not of won that game. However, he was in my starting hand for what felt like a majority of my starting hands throughout the event and only ever got played once. But, when I did play him I absolutely won that game.

If there is anything I have learned from drafting, it is to draft fliers and removal.
