It's brewin' time!

Ever since putting the finishing touches on both My Pointy-Eared Dudes! and Tute On, Son! (Atarka Elves and Jeskai Mill, respectively), I got to thinking about the coincidence of both Nissa, Vastwood Seer   and Dragonmaster Outcast coming into full effect at different stages of turn 7. Adding Dragonlord Atarka as the third major threat also fits very nicely into the theme.

The goal of the deck is to flood the board, until we can get to the end of their turn 6. Then, we drop a Collected Company, and the fireworks start as soon as the next turn begins:

  1. Dragonmaster makes a 5/5 flier during upkeep

  2. Play the Forest that Nissa allows you to search for, to turn her into Nissa, Sage Animist   , then immediately draw a card/make an Ashaya, the Awoken World token.

  3. Play Atarka during either main phase, depending on whether you want to use the extra 5 damage as a pre-combat board wipe, or as a post-combat trick.

(Bonus points if you can get Explosive Vegetation off to speed the process up, potentially turning it into a turn 5 situation)

I went back and forth for a long while as to which card was going to fill the final slot. I have gone with Pilgrim's Eye, as the land search ability is critical in this deck's mission, while the 1/1 Thopter buys us another turn by chumping a giant flier that we would otherwise struggle against.

This is a 100% homebrew, so it's gonna require a bit (a lot) of play before I get a good feel as to what I should be doing with my sideboard. But sugestions are always great if you have any.

Good luck... to me!

So, there was a second Game Day in the area on the Sunday. 8 players, 3 rounds of Swiss to derltermine the winner.

Match 1 vs RB Vampire Madness: First time for my opponent playing this deck, although he still played well. He was able to hit me down to a low life total, until Dragonlord Atarka was able to boardwipe and stall enough for Nissa and Outcast to take over the games. 1-0

Match 2 vs. UB Sacrifice: The big key here was using Crater Elemental's 1st ability to take down Zulaport Cutthroat and Whirler Rogue. Ultimate Price was also excellent at taking down Nantuko Husk. 2-0

Match 3 vs. WB Lifegain: The only deck that this deck truly folds to, and I play against it in the final. Ugh. He is just too fast with his synergistic Allies, and I am dead before you know it. I did have a big chance of taking Game 2, but couldn't find my 7th land in time for Atarka. 2-1

So, 2nd overall. I was most happy with how smooth the mana was. Not once over the 2 days did I stumble with mana color. Pretty impressive stuff.
