* Lusty Loamy Nights *

Our Loamy Knight would be Knight of the Reliquary ;)

Working the Compost

This is one of my favorite decks to play, there is plenty of decision making and multiple angles to go about overwhelming the board. The decision heavy portion is not the same type as blue control however. Early game decisions to your own game-state are essential for progressing your path to victory. I will explain the two primary paths below.

Seismic Assault As you have no doubt noticed is the basis we use. Together with Life from the Loam, and incredibly powerful card, we can win by throwing hands of lands at anything and everything. We have a few ways to go about finding the two pieces we need.

  • Commune with the Gods , digs 5 deep and finds our enchantment, or puts a Loam in our grave.
  • Faithless Looting , Dig 2, but they go straight to hand. This can be used to trigger Loam.
  • Dredge. Loam and our Golgari Thug can help us find lands and more loams.

Its not imperative that we even find this combo, but it is inevitable as the game goes on.

Countryside Crusher and Knight of the Reliquary , Both are immense beaters that pose another angled threat to the board. Crusher filters draws and grows through use of Loam. Knight can be big on the drop. This is our beater path. Both have synergy with Faithless Looting, Commune with the Gods, Seismic Assault, and Dredge mechanics. Kessig Wolf Run can help with getting damage through via Trample.

Haakon, Stromgald Scourge and Knight of the Reliquary featuring Nameless Inversion . Another aspect of board control. We can force through our creatures through hand or counter disruption. Inversion serves as alternative board control. A bit costly, however, some decks simply cannot deal with this recursion.

Our weakness :'(

  • Grave hate for one. It's a second library to us. Hopefully with our creatures we are not completely reliant on it and can still push in for a win.

  • Very fast decks. Opponents can get the jump on us if we are not fast enough in our first turns to get the board under control.
