why is this legacy :P? Anyways, assuming it's modern, +1

This deck fares rather well against many full-legacy decks, so difference is minimal.
Using Earthquake would make it viable in a Modern meta.

ok fair enough. Because of that, I'd like to point out that Price of Progress is legal, and that a one of could be very powerful against most legacy decks.

Edit: also, I forgot about Chain Lightning, which might be better than shard volley, or at least a good sideboard card?

The reason I like Grim Lavamancer is while he doesn't directly aid Klin fiend, you do need a lot of disposable spells to make them both useful. Meaning they work off of the same things. Klin fiend makes each spell better, while Grim Lavamancer makes use of them later. Plus he helps a lot in smoothing out your turns when don't draw any more gas. So I think they actually work well in the same deck. Plus in the current legacy he kills almost anything that could be annoying to you, or that could get in the way of your Klin fiend. On that another card that I like to play in Klin fiend as a mid to late game option is Demoralize, or even Panic, or Gorilla War Cry to a lesser extent. Each might be worth sideboarding.

I recommend using guttersnipe and grapeshot in this deck

Also Increasing Vengeance is stricktly better than Reverberate in your deck. As well as Pyromancer Ascension is worth playing in your deck.

What about adding in a few Rite of Flame? Popping two of those on turn 2 would give you 5 mana to play with and let you run your turn 3 plan one turn earlier.

Sacked you an onion by the way. Hope it burns well!

Great deck for sure. I would stick Earthquake in my sideboard but it doesn't seem like you really need one. +1 for me.

just an idea

First of all, thanks to all for commenting here; much appreciated. Second thing... LINK THE CARDS. Thanks.

  • Casey4321 Compliment taken, my dear fellow player!

  • Spiridi Yeeeees... but no. After some of these years I've learned that giving the opponent the ability to choose usually ends up with the lesser evil being chosen. Imagine you have 3 life points left and are about to Blazing Salvo a Kalonian Tusker. Your opponent has 6 points of life left. Game Over for you the next turn.
What I'm trying to say (tl;dr) is that one should avoid giving choices.
    Thanks for passing by, though!

  • supafly Needle Drop is a good idea... but doesn't convince me much in this build. Altough yes: Grapeshot and Needle Drop were designed to go together... that's for sure.

  • LordOfMishap I didn't quite got you... Earthquake is already on the mainboard to take care of pesky tokens and to allow Modern format. I had Breath of Darigaaz in that slot.

  • BaCK4ThESTaB Increasing Vengeance is NOT strictly better than Reverberate. It is certainly more practical for offensive uses, but that requires mana that we don't have at our disposition and Reverberate can be used defensively against strange things like Enter the Infinite or Giant Growth or Thoughtseize. (I already tested the friggin' thing: Rev is better).

  • Danthecr33ds That is a funny mod, indeed. Consider that using Rite of Flame requires more cards to pull off the combo... but yes; a god-hand in the first turn would mean a T2 win, which is cool. Thanks for the suggestion dude!

See you all around! Thanks again for taking the time and leaving a comment :)

-2 Shard Volley for +2 Lightning Axe? Coupled with Quest for Pure Flame it is nasty.

Disregard that comment. I misread "creature" for "player" somehow.

What do you think about Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh  Flip?

Sweepea38 says... #20

Hi, so I know you've mentioned you don't like giving your opponent a choice, but this card is golden in burn. Browbeat. As a 1 or 2 of it can help a lot. 1/4 of your opponents starting life for 3 mana, or if it's the late game, you're running out of cards and they're running out of life, browbeat will force them to die through their own choice, or whatever you topdeck. It's incredibly great. although against lifegain should be sided out of course.

  • joebrannan1: Comment disregarded. Don't worry hahaha

  • FierceTierce: I think it is interesting but not so synergical. It requires more mana and cards to be effective. This deck unfortunately runs out of fuel very quick... So you better win quickly. In case of need, Chandra, the Firebrand's second ability with a hardcasted Thunderous Wrath on the 6th turn (long matches) means 10 damage with one card... at a yield of 1.67 damage per mana point spent... not as good as Lightning Bolt but still pretty high. Anyway... Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh  Flip is, in my opinion, best suited for other kinds of deck, like Commander, Non-RDW mono-red, and Izzet decks. She looks to be better in the long run, and her ultimate is perfect for a Commander scene.

  • Sweepea38: Yes... and no. It is a good option if you don't run a deck with high tempo. If this deck was a tiny tad slower, it could have a good place in lieu of Forked Bolt, Chandra's Spitfire or Earthquake, depending on the meta you are in. Browbeat suffers the illness of allowing choice, and in this particular case you don't have time to allow choice. You make things burn hahah. But anyway... 3x Browbeat instead of a third turn Chandra's Spitfire could either mean 3x Lightning Bolts in the fourth turns... and that's a scenario worth looking into. Thanks for passing by and discussing this! :)

JakeKita you know? I've thought about it a lot. But I'm still not sure if the advantage would be worth it. The speed of the Monastery Swiftspear are pretty useless if She has no evasion or first strike (or trample, god give me something with trample).
I guess she could be good in a quick start followed by a Kiln Fiend and then alpha strike in turn 3... but I would like to draw her in a turn 5+.
Also Chandra's Spitfire spits in the eye of Stormtide Leviathan hahahaha

Rush of Adrenaline grants trample if that's what you're looking for.

i have recently added 2 [rush of adrenaline] to this deck. i was using [fury charm] but the cheaper cost was worth losing the possible removal that i never end up using. as for [chandra's spitfire], her flying has won the game countless times. i can't imagine trading her in although i do wish she was cheaper.
