She's maybeboard for the moment, as I'm not sure if I want to splash for another color.
Appreciate the suggestion though :)

there are going to be the pains and the shocklands, it's really not too much of an issue

The only problem is that when M15 comes out, the Ravnica block will rotate out of standard D:

I thought it rotates when Khans of Tarkir comes out in October :S
Will try to find confirmation of this, otherwise this deck seems a bit pointless.

According to http://whatsinstandard.com/, both M14 and RTR block are legal until the first set of a new block (aka Khans of Tarkir) comes out in late 2014.
So this deck should be legal for about 3 months after M15 hits :)

@holloway1 - Its not that color fixing is an issue. With pains, shocks, Mana Confluence and scrylands, the color fixing is amazing at the moment.
However, If I splash blue and/or red, the question of "What else do I put in now that I've splashed" comes up. Lavinia of the Tenth will more than likely go in the deck, but I will need to consider if there are any other useful blue cards to add.

take out lavinia add red Assemble the Legion i have a very similar deck I am working on.

Tempting, but Assemble the Legion normally becomes better for longer games which I'm trying to avoid.
I appreciate the suggestion and will keep it in mind though :)

+1! check out my deck, similar in build and theme but more of a blitz deck that just gives my opponents huge headaches, check it out to see why ;)the walking dead (b/w humans) 4-0 fnm!!

Thanks for the +1 :)
Your Athreos deck looks pretty fun (and brutal) to play. So +1 for you

Why Obelisk of Urd when you can just play Dictate of Heliod? I understand that tokens mean you might be able to convoke it out for cheaper, but it seems that if you have an unchecked token generator (Brimaz) you're winning anyways. Obelisk is for all the non-white decks that just can't play dictate or spam the board with enough cheap creatures to cast it early on.

Hmmm you make a good point. I guess it works as a sort of combat trick too. Thanks for the suggestion!

You could still give Elspeth a place in your SB. Really, she deserves it =D

I had Elspeth in the mainboard before, but with only 22 land, she seemed like a dead card (even though I know she is awesome once she sticks) .
I'll keep her in the maybeboard for now, it's possible that this deck will still see a bunch of change and she might come back in.
July 7, 2014 4:23 a.m.
I actually like Obelisk of Urd over Dictate of Heliod. The convoke is VERY relevant in this deck. It's near impossible to reach 5 land when you need it.

Nykthos can work, but is more useful in a midrange deckwith things like Archangel of Thune and Angel of Serenity .
Obelisk of Urd might make it's way back in if I switch Ajani's Pridemate with Raise the Alarm . I'll need to test which of these setups are better.

I could imagine Daxos of Meletis not beeing a bad card in here, think about it:
He's a soldier, his lifegain buffs Ajani's Pridemate and you already spashed blue anyway.
The main problem with a deck like this, is that it runs out of gas very quickly, but if you manage to use your mana otherwise, say to play exiled cards from daxos, you can conserve your cards in hand for a little longer...

That's true and I love the synergy with Ajani's Pridemate .I've still been meaning to try Daxos out with Preeminent Captain to see if how it works out. The thing I'm afraid of is he just gets chumped by Sylvan Caryatid or trades with Mutavault .
I was thinking of adding in military intelligence (draws a card whenever I attack with 2 or more creatures) to at least avoid going in to top deck mode.
I will try Daxos out and let you know how he goes. :)
July 8, 2014 3:55 a.m.
You're right! 'Military Intelligence' looks like an awesome card in your deck! That alone is worth splashing for... haven't considered that.
Daxos is a little bit weak, true enough... I only though how cool it would be to play him in here. Haha
July 8, 2014 5:28 a.m.
Obelisk of Urd lets you play this on turn 3-4 while taking a break from attacking that turn.
but why not spear of heliod or even heliod for that matter in a deck like this? Spear is better then hall in an all white deck
July 8, 2014 8:57 a.m.
If you want some reference, here's the deck I'm thinking about running when M15 drops.

I would bump up to 4 Preeminent Captain hes going to be such a strong engine for this deck. And one thought i had, you have alot of humans, you could always cut one card for a Xathrid Necromancer To pump more value out of your cards
holloway1 says... #1
Lavinia of the Tenth kind of blows other aggro decks out of the water if you can flash her in off Preeminent Captain .
