Sideboard

Maybeboard

Maad as in science. Stacks as in spell slinger.

(the resolve kind, not the grindy kind!)

Welcome! I'm most comfy playing magic trying to squeeze value from a diminishing return. This deck is a manifestation of that. So, here you're going to find...

  1. Deep digs
  2. Full risk
  3. Accidental Value

Piloting

This plays out like a manual storm puzzle, chaining interactions (usually with detours) that eventually lead to the win. In my experience, it's better to fly fast and loose with this deck and eventually explode into value. It can hang back and "win from nowhere", but if it's not full throttle, you're not far off from dead in the water.

Lines

There's options for your standard High Tide big turn, with most of the spells lending themselves to keeping that window open for as long as possible. Resolving a stack and closing out with Mizzix's Mastery is always solid. A big enough Mind's Desire can usually net a line of play that leads to a W too. (though critical thinking skills may apply).

Theory/Options

My love of pet cards and explosive interaction makes it hard for me to decide on cuts and alternatives thus far. But I'm always tinkering with what the right mix should be. Sideboard is usually holdovers from the last iteration. Luckily I've got a really healthy EDH community to run the gauntlet with. This deck has won and lost to the best of them, cEDH and otherwise.

Closing

At the end of the day, it's an Izzet deck doing Izzet things, and that's my jam. If you checked this out and thought it was groovy, I'd appreciate you dropping a comment or upvote! -!

Updates Add

-Guttersnipe // + Imperial Recruiter I was never super excited to see snipe in my hand and was always reluctant to play him. Recruiter is sitting in a test slot atm, but in theory lets me actively grab creatures since the ones I play are usually small.

-Curious Homunculus  Flip // + Dockside Extortionist Same as above, homonculus never did much for me, but extortionist hits the board pretty hard for fast mana instead of just a reduced 1 on all spells.

-Reality Spasm // + Narset's Reversal Swiping spells and pumping storm count seems better than untapping for X. Spasm was kind of dead here.
