I run a similar deck (which badly needs updating) that runs Groundbreaker to really push up the clock--it tends to goldfish around turn 4 over half of the time. I also run Mistcutter Hydra due to being in a pretty blue meta, and I've also run Timbermare in the past as a a green Lava Axe.

Maybe Gavony Township would be helpful in the deck? could make avatar a complete tank.

I want to keep this mono-G, otherwise I would. I have a G/W build that uses them.

dfrice

I'm using Groundbreaker in a Simic Zoo I've been trying out that uses it as an evolve trigger. Here? I prefer stuff that sticks around for a while. Same with Timbermare but I'm not beyond changing my mind.

When I come to make the sideboard, Mistcutter Hydra will be in it.

happyman379

If I knew what to cut, I'd have a set in there.

I like it, but I'd drop the Elvish Mystics and go with Experiment One. More counters for your sub theme. Also, and I know it's a really good card, but I would cut the Nylea for Dungrove Elder and then up my rancor count to 4. That's a little more "iffy" though. Maybe drop a Champion for an Elder or two. The hexproof with the rancor is really good.

I'd been thinking the same about Experiment One -- No real need for ramp when everything is 3 mana or less.

I'll give the elder a try too -- Good as trample is on everything, a lot of things already have it or get it from Rancor

Cheers!

How do we feel aboutInspiring Call? Indestructible is pretty great, though a tiny bit redundant with your 8 undying creatures and obviously unnecessary to your 2 indestructible creatures. But that card draw has the potential to be pretty incredible.

I'm really not sure wisegreenbean. It looks close, but I'm afraid it's just too slow for modern. I'm trying out Collected Company at the moment and it seems to have real potential. It's basically draw 6 cards and put the two best creatures you drew into play, assuming you have constructed your deck to take advantage . With nykthos and Eternal Witness you can just spam creatures really fast.

I like the deck I am not sure about Champion of Lambholt. The reason I add instants is to destroy their big creatures and to put them behind a step. +1 Upvote

I love Champion of Lambholt as an option, and it fits the theme, but two are enough when it isn't the immediate focus.

Cheers for looking! (And the upvote, obviously!)

I LOVE the deck! +1/+1 counters for everyone! You could try looking into Oran-Rief, the Vastwood for even more! It's a nice budget land, too. I see you have Mistcutter Hydra in the board, but I've found Skylasher to be really effective against control decks.

I'd appreciate it if you could check out my own take on Stompy, and perhaps make some suggestions as I see you're an awesome brewer! Stompy's Resourceful Brother (Devotion Stompy). Go Green!

Thanks!

Oran-Rief, the Vastwood had crossed my mind, but it's a bit slow and can screw up any Undying creatures I have. Though I have been thinking of replacing my Young Wolf with Dryad Militant so that might not be too big of a problem if I do.

As for Skylasher -- It and Mistcutter Hydra are basically interchangeable except for the fact that Skylasher has flash and reach. I might switch them out soon...

Something to consider are Scourge of Skola Vale or Witchstalker for Champ of Lambdhold. If your meta is heavy on removal material. Hydra can eat anything that is heading for the trashbin/exile/ and grows madly in size to boot. Witchstalker is just hasty.

Both good to consider -- Especially Witchstalker. Scourge might be a bit slow.

If I wanted to run G/W Hatebears, I'd just do that.

Thanks for the point about Mistcutter though, I'd been thinking about swapping them out for Skylasher anyway.

Hey, there's a huge stompy forum conversation here, if you want to join.

Theres a big case being made to cut scoozes from the mainboard, or at least down to 2 copies, and most people are saying that you have to either run dungroves or manlands, but not both in order to maximize consistency. Go check it out!

That's the primer I'd been reading to build this! I can see a lot of good discussion points there, especially the dungrove vs manland debate. Since I have the dungroves, I'll cut the treetops and see how it goes. Seems to me that Oran-Rief is just going to sit there in the early game, so I'll cut that too for now.

The point about scooze is good too -- I upped it to 3 after some "Helpful Suggestions" from a T/O member. Two seems enough in a competitive FNM environment -- So would you say the best idea is going up to 21 lands because of the Dungroves? I can't think of any 1-ofs that'll fit otherwise aside from Thrun, the Last Troll

What about a Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx?

I had one in my original build, but there's never really a situation where I need so much mana. If it were Devotion Stompy, sure.
