Try Lignify over Dismember for certain targets, Wurmcoil Engine, Tasigur and others. Overgrown Tombs for Dismember is not worth it and will cost you more life than it's worth. You will still pay 2 life at least and you want this spell being cast for 1 colorless always... unless ur on 4 life :(Also, Omnath I run a 1 of. And main deck Thrun, he is the best 4 drop green has. Very hard to deal with.

the cool thing about this deck is you can really pimp it out with promos like most of your cards can be promo'd and thats pretty cool imho

I really like the decklist. Why is Overgrown Tomb in here, is it to support Dismember better? I don't feel it is necessary. I would suggest Treetop Village as a better option for a tap land.

Is Khalni Hydra out of the question? Talara's Battalion?

You're right -- Tomb is there to support Dismember -- I originally had them in the mainboard so I didn't have to pay 4 life to use it. I still like it in there as an option should I need to side in.

I've thought about Treetop Village before, but I personally dislike Manlands, so I'm still on the fence for this build -- they'd be far better in something like this than other decks.

TheBanlist

Hydra's too expensive for this type of build -- It's better off in a devotion build with Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx.

Talara's Battalion is good, but it's dead on the first turn of if don't have another creature in hand. That, and Avatar can usually come in as a 4/3 too.

Well what about Hissing Quagmire and Llanowar Wastes

Overgrown Tomb is likely preferred for the Dungrove Elder.

Nice deck!

Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx? You have the devotion for it. maybe run only one or two.

There's not really anything I need it for -- If I cast everything in my hand that's a real overextension.

Yeah that was kind of my thought. But since modern is now more aggressive than control your mainly going to want to beat down your opponent and have them fighting to survive, not win. You would also be able to put better more expensive creatures in the deck.

Define "Better" -- Leatherback Baloth is a 4/5 for 3, cut-and-dry; Thrun, the Last Troll is a Hexproof 4/4 with Regeneration; Avatar of the Resolute is a 3/2 for 2 with upside, often coming in as a 4/3 or sometimes a 5/4; Experiment One is a one-drop that grows with more creatures, especially good with a Strangleroot Geist if it dies, making the board a 3/3 and a 3/2 as often as turn two; Dungrove Elder is as big as your manabase AND hexproof.

The key word with Mono-Green Stompy is VALUE -- Cheap creatures with upside. More expensive in terms of CMC doesn't always mean better.

Did you make this deck up?

lowid

Wish I did, but no. It's an existing deck type called Stompy/Mono-Green Aggro.

When I say better I just meant like game ending creatures like Emrakul, the Aeons Torn

xcn says... #16

Tyrannosary Emrakul is for a very different deck - running it would require simply not playing the same strategy at all. Eldrazi are best left to Tron, Eldrazi, or TaN decks that want to ramp. Trying to ramp would dilute the aggro plan.

True I don't know what I'm thinking telling you to put a 15 drop in a deck like this. I must be tired or somethin

My luck usually means I hit something small, but every little helps.

  • Budget
  • $210

Pick one

Jolty

That is budget for modern.

Even Soul Sisters and Mono-Blue Tron are ~$400, and they're two of the cheaper decks you can run.

metalemmanuel says... #23

Soul Sister without auriok and lands is around 200.. I find that budget. Ive tested with coco and the test was not that conclusive.. not really better..not really worse

can i ask why not fetches to search for your dual lands? and if you are running black for sideboard, why no Abrupt Decay or Putrefy?
