Why Atraxa?

The brand new Atraxa, Grand Unifier really reminds me of Niv-Mizzet Reborn. Both do similar things, but I found Atraxa, despite dropping the red mana from it's color identity, performs 100x better. Its ability to add one of each card type is much more consistent and powerful card advantage, as well as its 4 keywords make Atraxa a powerful beat stick.

Poison Counters

This deck has a couple different win cons. The main one is winning via poison counters. Knocking every player out at once is the most consistent way of winning.

Commencing Compleation

The best cards to start the pain train with are ones like Prologue to Phyresis, Vraska's Fall, and Infectious Inquiry.

Those cards really help distribute the poison counters to your opponents and let you start proliferating much more effectively.

Continuing Corruption

After you've gotten a poison counter on each opponent, you can start proliferating your opponents into oblivion.

Using cards like Tekuthal, Inquiry Dominus, Ezuri, Stalker of Spheres, and Norn's Choirmaster can really help get that ball rolling. Mixed with the plenty of blink spells in this deck, not only will you be generating obscene levels of card advantage with Atraxa, but you could also use them to proliferate with Ezuri. The main blink cards to look for when using Atraxa's ability will be Displacer Kitten, Conjurer's Closet and while not a flicker spell, Helm of the Host.

These 3 permanents in particular allow you to push Atraxa's card advantage to the max. She does cost 7 mana, after all, so we are going to squeeze as much value as we can out of her existence. The closet will allow you to re-use her ETB every end step, making sure you have a full hand going into the next turn rotation, and the Kitten will make all of your non-blink spells blink. Helm of the Host will obviously just give you so much more than just an ETB, as a hasty 7/7 with keywords rivalled only by the lord of keywords,Zetalpa, Primal Dawn, will certainly give your foes a hard time.

Corruption Compleate

Other cards to keep in mind that can further your goals of compleate unification are Venerated Rotpreist, and Vraska, Betrayal's Sting. The rotpreist speaks for itself. Any targeted removal will be punished, and even better, your own blink spells give you more value. Also with it being a one-drop and having toxic, it can start the countdown to your opponents' demise early. Vraska is an absolutely obnoxious card in this deck as her first ability is both card advantage and furthers your toxic takeover. Her second ability is hands down one of the most frustrating targeted removal effects, and her final ability, which is quite easy to hit as you will be proliferating all game, effectively just lets you win if it resolves.

Hit Them In The Face

Your commander is a big beat stick and you have no issues pumping out other annoying threats like Phyrexian Vindicator, Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon. Just hit them.

Glissa Sunslayer is a pretty good utility card for her abilities, but her real power lies as a blocker that isn't phased by 99% of threats. First strike and deathtouch is an incredibly annoying combo to try and break though

Shalai, Voice of Plenty is just overall great protection for your board, and can even help buff your team up which you can then combo with proliferate if needed.

Ravos, Soultender is fantastic insurance and can help you get your lost value engines as they are inevitably picked off. He is replaceable with Sheoldred, Whispering One if you like to be more on theme, but I found in playtesting the black praetor was too expensive mana wise and I missed the static buff to my power and toughness.

Yarok, the Desecrated, Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines, and Panharmonicon all effectively do the same thing. Generating double the value of ETB effects in a flicker deck is a must-have.

Strixhaven Stadium, while not the best mana rock, is funny when you get a kill with it. And Realmbreaker, the Invasion Tree is also a funny ramp that can also give you instant board state if needed.

Beledros Witherbloom Gives good blockers, and can help you untap your lands to play more spells, you'll have the life from your 7/7 life linking commander.

Hunting Grounds is also a great removal bait for 2 mana that can almost guarantee you a free creature.

Valentin, Dean of the Vein   and it's flip are both great options that can flex based on your matchup. Into graveyard decks the front side is crippeling, and into everything else if you have the mana for it, the backside works great because your commander, and a good handful of other creatures come with either lifelink or a way to gain you a bit of life.

Lastly, Phyresis can turn your commander into an effective instant kill if unblocked

Atraxa

At the end of the day, Atraxa, grand unifier is arguabley one of the most irritating threats of recents sets. Its ability to provide so much card advantage and be a massive body makes it a disaster to deal with if it resolves. Even on board, Atraxa is a real pain to remove because if your opponents do, not only do you have a deck of blink spells to save her, but if successful you can always get that sweet etb again.
