Maelstrom Wanderer: Cascading into the Future

Commander / EDH* Aggro Battlecruiser Combo Competitive Ramp RUG (Temur)

Rzepkanut

Maybeboard

This is just a glorified ramp beatdown deck that also abuses ETB (Enters The Battlefield) effects on creatures. Having a broken ass commander like Maelstrom Wanderer doesn't hurt either. Cards that allow the top card to be revealed are used to enhance the cascade quality.

The "Fair" Plan:

  • 1.) Efficiently cast your ramp spells.

  • 2.) Play some creatures with ETB effects (like Flametongue Kavu or Wood Elves).

  • 3.) If you can afford to, cast Maelstrom Wanderer and smash.

  • 4.) Keep killing stuff and gaining card advantages with ETB dudes and attacking until you win.

The "Unfair" Plan:

Card Choices and Deck Notes

  • Every card in the deck can be cascaded into and be cast for profit, so I never have to miss on a cascade trigger. Especially the counterspells, I only chose ones that are always good to cascade into for maximum value.

  • Normally I avoiding playing cards that create infinite loops to instantly win games of EDH, but after some serious soul searching and self reflection.... I realized I wanted to be able to play them sometimes. But not always so there are some fun cards in the maybeboard that can come in for some of the "Unfair Plan" cards listed above. Not actually Twin or Kiki since they're still great value cards without infinite combos.

Budget suggestions appreciated most. I'm anyways looking for suggestions of other fun cards to abuse my opponents with.

I've tried to collect all the best land ramping spells that get 2+ lands, and all the counterspells that you can cascade into and still be good to cast...let me know if I missed any you like.

Thanks for your time :)
