------------Pauper Burn----------------------Mainboard----------
Chain Lightning
, Lightning Bolt, Lava Spike,
Rift Bolt
- The 3 for 1's that make pauper burn possible. Primary offense, turn-one ass-whuppin'.
Fireblast - A phenomenal finisher, and what allows a consistent one-turn drop from 10 life to game, set, and match. Absolute staple.
Needle Drop
, Forgotten Cave - Gain card advantage whilst advancing the clock. Improves the consistency of the deck, making it one of the most reliable Pauper decks in the field.
Searing Blaze - Simultaneously removal and burn to get us a leg up in the race. Sided out against low creature count decks, such as Dimir Control.
Keldon Marauders
- 5 damage for 2 mana is an incredible value; add that to the potential blocker against faster or more aggressive creature decks.
Flame Rift - Big damage, low cost, and a minor drawback. Often sided out against more aggressive decks, such as the mirror match and Affinity.
Curse of the Pierced Heart
- Continues damage when we've hit a streak of poor draws. Difficult to answer, and often dealing 4 or 5 damage for 2 mana.
Thermo-Alchemist - Acts as a blocker against aggressive decks, whilst dealing upwards of 5 or 6 damage. Incredible tempo piece.
----------Sideboard----------
Flaring Pain
- Included to combat
Circle of Protection: Red
,
Guardian of the Guildpact
, and anything else that may try to extinguish the burn.
Martyr of Ashes
,
Electrickery
- Sweepers to stop big hordes of creatures. Infect, Stompy, Weenies, etc, etc.
Red Elemental Blast - Sided in to control and gain tempo against Mono U and Delver decks.
Smash to Smithereens - Artifact removal for Affinity and extra damage make this card a must against anything consistently landing artifacts on the field.
Molten Rain - Takes down UrzaTron and Dimir Control, as well as any low land count deck. The bonus damage is an absolute must, as to not waste an important turn 3.
Mardu Scout
- Repeatable Dash effects to keep pressure on low creature-count decks.
Golden Urn
- Essential against the mirror match. The extra few life points are more than enough to turn the game around.
