Hey, thanks for the comment! Nivmagus Elemental was originally included as a turn one chump blocker against aggro and a way to still get some value out of any spells control decks counter, but in practice it didn't ever swing the game in my favor too much. I'm removing it in the next version of the deck. Anger of the Gods isn't in here since it hits Spellheart Chimera unfortunately, otherwise it'd be perfect. Vortex Elemental looks like a strong way to deal with big creature decks! I'll definitely try to squeeze it into the next iteration of the build. Runechanter's Pike looks ridiculous, and I'm sad it's not in Standard rotation.
Right now I'm actually looking to tighten up the cards in the the deck and splash white for 4x Boros Charm . It counters Supreme Verdict, is a direct damage spell, and also gives a guy Double Strike. The synergy with this deck reaches almost dumb levels of good. Going white also opens up the possibility of Chained to the Rocks against any big creature decks along with other U/W control options like Azorius Charm for my sideboard.
Once I get the cards I need, I'll update the decklist to reflect the new build!

Your reply is great info since I'm also working on an Izzet deck. I was also thinking of splashing white for Boros Charm , and I can't really think of a good reason not to anymore. I didn't think about the fact that Runechanter's Pike isn't in standard right now, I just play super casually with friends so it didn't really occur to me.
I've been using Delver of Secrets Flip as the turn 1 chump blocker, but I'm not sure if it's in Standard anymore either haha. I like Blistercoil Weird a little better than Nivmagus Elemental for that role, just because it gets buffed without exiling your spells, even though the buff is lesser.
Seems as though you have a lot more experience than I do, I'm still making a ton of changes to my deck too. I'm definitely gonna keep up with your changes for inspiration for mine.

I've moved the deck over to a new listing now. Splashed for white and got all my dual lands. All discussion will be over there now. Thanks! Check it out at: American Charm

Nivmagus Elemental seems kinda counter-intuitive to include for me since it isn't synergistic with Spellheart Chimera , but if it works for you, that's awesome. If you're worried about Mizzium Mortars but still want the midrange cards, I'd look at things like Anger of the Gods , Vortex Elemental , and Triton Tactics . I'm a huge fan of Runechanter's Pike in this deck, but it might be overkill, and I'm not sure what to take out for it.
