This is in response to your "Why doesn't it work?" post.

What part of your plan doesn't work? I can tell you right now that if you're not able to get something small out on turns 1-3, it's because there are only 8 cards in the deck that can be cast on turns 1-3.

If it's because you don't see enough stuff in general, it's probably because you're playing 44 lands. 40 is seen as heavy by most Commander players, and many would recommend 36-38 for your deck.

If it's because you run out of ammo too soon after playing your general, it's because there probably isn't enough card draw. To capitalize on this, you might want to load up on things like Mind's EyeMTG Card: Mind's Eye, Howling MineMTG Card: Howling Mine, etc.

If it's because opponents just kill your Commander and run over you, it's because you don't have any way to protect her or to disrupt what your opponents are doing. Pretty much everyone has crazy and expensive stuff in their Commander decks, so because your opponents get to use the effect on Braids before you do, if they're smart they'll use that advantage to blow you out. I understand the appeal of playing only artifacts, creatures, and lands in a Braids, Conjurer AdeptMTG Card: Braids, Conjurer Adept deck, but you should include at least some basic countermagic, bounce, protective enchantments, or maybe even some blue discard to support her.

... after playtesting this deck for a few games and then finally reading previous comments I second Rhadamathus's comment completely!

On another note, I noticed that this deck is lacking Lightning GreavesMTG Card: Lightning Greaves and it's good friend Swiftfoot BootsMTG Card: Swiftfoot Boots these and maybe Shield of KaldraMTG Card: Shield of Kaldra or Darksteel PlateMTG Card: Darksteel Plate can protect braids. The deck could also use some form of board wipe or something that could help you control the bombs your opponents will eventually be playing thanks to your commander. Also also... the deck could use Sol RingMTG Card: Sol Ring, for some turn two commander!

With something like this, I can see Paradox HazeMTG Card: Paradox Haze being incredibly useful. Target yourself with it, and even if your opponents get good stuff out off of Braids' ability you can just outrace them.

Rhadamanthus, the small stuff in the deck are not particularly necessary, I have plenty of draw, and I could go down to 38 lands. It's just so crucial that I hit all four lands the first four turns, so I want to be cautious about taking some out. That last point is what seems to be the problem. I don't have Braids out long enough to help me win the game. Either they kill her, kill me, or both before I can kill them or kill whatever's killing me. I agree that adding some countermagic, bounce, protection, and discard spells can help, but I'm going to try to find artifacts or creatures that will do that for me. Thanks for the help. :)

Demarge, those cards would be great to add, especially if I take out some land. Those are what I had in mind in the area of protection spells. Thanks for the help. :)

platinum_demon Paradox HazeMTG Card: Paradox Haze is a good card, thanks for the help. :)

That's right. Because of the color indicator on the back face, 's color identity is Black.

Temple of the False God ? Yes. Rhystic Study ? Yes As for Tomorrow, Azami's Familiar , I think you'd be better off with something faster and more effective. Sensei's Divining Top , perhaps?

Ah, but Tomorrow, Azami's Familiar puts the rest ON THE BOTTOM of the library. Plus I have to pay 1 to Sensei's Divining Top each time I reorder the cards. Plus I can cast Tomorrow for free with my commander. Plus it is a funny combo with Omen Machine .

Your Honor, I rest my case.

OH MY GLOB, THIS DECK WORKS AMAZINGLY. WHO KNEW Portcullis WOULD COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN CREATURE BASED DECKS? AND NO ONE WANTED TO POP IT BECAUSE OF WHAT I IMPRINTED ON IT...

I need to take Storm Cauldron out, but I can't decide what to put in.

I feel like I need more things that I can cast turn 1, 2, & 3 that will protect my commander when I tap out for her turn 4.

Any suggestions?

Rhadamanthus, that's exactly what I was looking for!

So far, I'm going to add Cavern of Souls , Spellskite , and Daring Apprentice . In place of Storm Cauldron , Temple of the False God , and Mycosynth Golem .

Sound good, all?
