Ajani's Pridemate would be great in here for obvious reasons

@Pal00ka Good call, I'll add him in soon.

@Mac97 I plan on only running one or two Soul Sisters. Probably running Essence Warden now for testing and adding in the others if it performs well.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll update this decklist as soon as I have time.

Wow. I didn't even see Essence Warden.

lemmingllama says... #5

@Mac97 Yeah. I'm trying to make the green side a bit more dominant and use white as support/end game stuff. So Essence Warden fits a bit better overall.

@aHeartlessPotato Odric is great, I forgot to add him in earlier. Now to find what to cut out.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Great deck. +1!

@HeroInMyOwnMind Thanks for the +1!

@wahnschatten I will be adding in more non-basics, but I'm first looking to get the basic shell of the deck purchased. I typically build decks budget at first, then trade/buy into how I really want it to be. I will likely be adding Blossoming Sands and Graypelt Refuge, just need to go through my cards and see what I have.

Chalice of Life  Flip is great, but it gives too little of a benefit. I'd rather just kill them with massive creatures and gain the life from those creatures entering.

Primal Command is one I will be adding when I add more budget into this build. Only copies I have are in other decks.

Loxodon Hierarch isn't half as good as Dauntless Escort. Luckily my playgroup doesn't run too many boardwipes, so it isn't really necessary currently.

Angelic Accord might be replacing Sacred Mesa. I'll test it out and see how it goes.

Felidar Sovereign is a boring way to win. I try not to win with silly combos and such, and instead have those big epic battlecruiser magic games. "Answer this or I win" cards aren't quite as fun.

Entreat the Angels was in an earlier draft of this deck, but I had to trade my copy to get other cards for this deck. It will be added again when I get another copy.

Thanks for the suggestions!

@dragonhunter Typically this deck only needs about 4 lands before I can start doing good things. Because of this, I opted to go for the less fancy ramp spells and use the cheaper ones instead. It's a great card though, I run it in some of my other decks.

@wahnschatten My playgroup sticks to the RC's rules, so we play Felidar Sovereign and such as they are written. I may add it if I really need the additional wincon, but I'd rather not.

As for Advent of the Wurm, it was in the original build. I might still be adding it in since I have a copy, but I replaced it with Armada Wurm due to the overall power.

lemmingllama says... #12

@wahnschatten You convinced me, just added it in along with Angelic Accord.

Also the RC is the EDH Rules Committee, they are the ones who regulate the rules and banned list of EDH. They have also stated that cards like Felidar Sovereign should be used as they read, although you can house rule them if you so desire. If you do go to a tournament, cards like Serra Ascendant will be 6/6's for 1 mana because of this.

June 23, 2015 8:16 p.m.

lemmingllama says... #13

@wahnschatten Typically Serra Ascendant just paints a giant bulls eye on that person, it's similar to a turn 1 Sol Ring for being a threat. Sometimes it helps, but I find it attracts more hate than what it is worth. Which is half of why it isn't here, the other half being that it costs money.

The biggest need is defense. With your heavy creature base, you want to be able to protect your creatures.

Rootborn Defenses is your plus card.
Ghostway dodges more stuff (even with your tokens dying).
Rune-Tail, Kitsune Ascendant will keep damage off.
Wrap in Vigor - depends on the wraths in your meta.
Reconnaissance - pseudo-vigilance, + attack with everything every turn without fear.
Eldrazi Monument - once you have a token engine working.
Dauntless Escort - not as hard to play around as the instants, but okay (and sick on a Mimic Vat) (also sick w/Nim Deathmantle)
Asceticism - regen + no spot removal.

lemmingllama says... #15

@shaistyone My meta doesn't have a significant amount of wrath effects, so a lot of the anti-wrath cards like Rootborn Defenses, Ghostway, and Wrap in Vigor aren't necessary.

Rune-Tail, Kitsune Ascendant is already in the deck. He's wonderful.

Reconnaissance is decent, but not ideal. I'd probably use Gustcloak Savior if I wanted to give all my creatures the gustcloak effect.

Eldrazi Monument is cool, but I don't know how frequently I can get piles of tokens out. It is one I will hold off on until I put the deck into paper and test.

Dauntless Escort is one that I plan on adding, I just need to decide on what to remove.

Asceticism is wonderful. I will be adding in a copy, basically just need to get one that isn't already in a deck.

Thank you for your suggestions!

Seance does crazy things with your commander, like mimicvat. Storm Herd generates lots of creature. Requiem Angel makes board wipes pointless. Fun things to think about

June 25, 2015 6:46 p.m.

lemmingllama says... #17

@pettit Seance seems surprisingly amazing. I will be finding a place for it in here.

Storm Herd is cool, but I decided not to run it as a finisher and use other exciting ones instead. Also it costs an obscene amount of mana.

Requiem Angel is good, but not great. I do have a copy so it may come in, but I'm likely not going to clog up my top end too much.

cathar's crusade + white sun's zenith is maybe just a little bit more than a "great combat trick"... O_o

nice edh deck tho.

@wakawakawaka Well, I certainly enjoy it. And yes, great might not be the ideal word for it. But it's close enough...

shaistyone says... #20

@lemmingllama I get where you're coming from. Sounds like a nice meta to be so wrath-light. :)

The extra benefit of Reconnaissance over Gustcloak Savior (besides only being one mana) is that you can activate it at the end of combat step after damage has already happened, granting pseudo-vigilance. Plus it hoses Condemn, Royal Assassin effects, and anything similar.

@shaistyone My playgroup seems to not like white, and so wraths are either something we can see coming (Nevinyrral's Disk) or something we can deal with (Cyclonic Rift). Either way, it's more fun when the board isn't just being reset every couple turns. Means we can get more interactions going, or that we have too many control players so wraths never actually resolve when they are needed.

Also I never realized that Reconnaissance could be used after damage, but that makes perfect sense. I may just have to add a copy into this deck and my other white deck. I've always liked that effect, but the ability to untap everything and them dealing damage is backbreaking. Thank you for mentioning that interaction.

Your mana base feels, well. weird. Maybe try a fetch, guildgate, gain, etc.

Also, although it isn't budget, have you played Scavenging Ooze? It kicks butt with the Archangel!

I remember I watched a video yesterday about Trostani EDH while YouTube binging. xD

I'll see if I can find it...

@Scorprix Currently I'm just adding in things I own. I'm really looking to finish the deck first, then make the manabase a little better. I had forgotten to add the gainlands though, I own them in paper. Thank you for the reminder.

Scavenging Ooze will be replacing Night Soil when I get a copy. Really I just need to acquire a copy.

Similarly, most of the Tolarian Community College list that I want to run are not in here due to budget reasons. Stuff like Wurmcoil Engine are wonderful, but I lack the funds to get them all immediately. Yay budget building!

Anyways, thanks for your suggestions!

Ok. Sorry about the response delay...

Just some cards I think are probably good:

Grove of the Guardian, Gavony Township, Growing Ranks, Soul Warden, Soul's Attendant, Crop Rotation (to tutor for Grove of the Guardian/Gavony Township), Nomads' Assembly (mostly for chumping in the early game, and even better with a soul sister or with Beastmaster Ascension/Cathars' Crusade), Geist-Honored Monk, or even sweet utility cards like Birthing Pod or the semi-pricy Fauna Shaman. Mycoloth is pricy, but feels great here. Things that give your guys hexproof are nice, too, and Mentor of the Meek could be nice for card advantage...

I also always feel terrible when I see someone forced to play Rampant Growth, so just put it out of it's misery and use something like Talisman of Unity (and take my word for the fact that this looks SWEET in foil!: Talisman of Unity).
