How do you plan to get rid of your hand effectively? I think that is the biggest weak spot in this deck since Barren Glory requires an empty hand.

Hi MartialArt! Well, other than Barren Glory, everything in this deck is CMC 2 or less, which means I should be able to play them in a hurry. Children of Korlis and Kami of False Hope can both be sacrificed on demand, as they don't require a target (so I can just play them and sac them straight away). Wall of Shards and Stingscourger both have costs that must be paid at the beginning of the upkeep, so I can choose to resolve these before Barren Glory and not pay the costs. The biggest problem with the last version of the deck was getting rid of excess lands from my hand - although careful use of Faithless Looting can help with this.

Ok. Good thought. Like it. But this can still cost you some time. Think about something like Lotus Petal to boost your mana without having more unsacable permanents.
Have you thought about the Lich's Mirror , Pact, Oblivion Ring , Barren Glory combo? It would be a whole different deck thought but just to mention it as a possible way.

Yeah, that would definitely work, and I've seen similar things. I guess I've tried to keep the combo as simple as possible, just the two cards. That way, I figure less can go wrong and I'm more likely to find all the pieces I need. Lotus Petal would definitely be a good plan, but I'm trying to keep this deck as budget as humanly possible; partly, because I don't want to spend loads of money on it but mostly because I like the challenge of trying to do tricksy things with a limited budget.
Thanks for the suggestions though!

Forbidding Watchtower would be able to hold down some smaller creatures without hampering your combo. P.S. I like it. +1

III like it. Nothing like a crazy budget combo deck to make Magic fun. For cheap mana-fixing, you may consider Battlefield Forge . It is relatively cheap, and with all the foggy cards in here, the loss of life can become irrelevant, as is the need to use that ability later in the game. Other than that, this deck has a very niche purpose, and giving suggestions without changing the entire deck would be difficult.
However, if you somehow manage to work in One with Nothing , you will be my new hero. +1

Yeah, its more expensive, but if kindofabigdeal can eventually get his/her hands on them, it would be a lot better for this deck.

Thanks Auphelian! So far during testing, mana fixing doesn't seem to have been much of an issue. The deck only really needs one mountain on the board, and there are more than enough of Evolving Wilds etc. to make that happen. I love the idea of somehow making One with Nothing do something useful in a deck - and I did consider it for this one. In the end though, I don't think this is quite the place for it - it's just not worth the hassle of mana fixing for it. Maybe in my next project though...

Thanks infinitemana! Forbidding Watchtower does seem like a good fit for this deck - and very much in keeping with the budget-ness of this deck. I'll see about getting some!

I'm wondering, say you play [barren glory] to win when you have no permanents, but to get rid of your hand, you had to play [intervention pact]... Which ability would trigger first, if you couldn't pay the 3 for [intervention pact]?

Since kindofabigdeal is the owner and controller of both cards (Intervention Pact and Barren Glory ) and both trigger at the beginning of the upkeep he can choose wich goes first, or to be exact wich one is above the other in the stack.

Yep, what MartialArt said :) The same thing applies for Wall of Shards upkeep cost.

seems like a pretty fun deck, it would probably be more successful if you had more ways of getting rid of your lands, like Armageddon

Sorry if you posted here before - it's a very different version of the deck now, so I've cleaned out the comments. Your feedback was much appreciated!
