You're right about Nightshade Peddler and its interaction with marath. I overlooked that and now I see why you run it. It's very good.

Gruul Ragebeast probably costs too much for duel commander, so I understand your hesitation to try it out. Its mandatory trigger is also a big drawback if you happen to face a creatureless deck. I still think it's a good card in a deck with consistent ramp and a meta with lots of creatures, but I'm sure you're cognizant of your deck's ability to drop 7CMC spells when they're needed.

I agree the combo with spike feeder and the angel is good, but I still think you ought to consider the feeder independent of the angel. I guess the question you have to ask yourself is how often do you get the feeder and no angel and would've preferred to have drawn something else?

I disagree with you about Genesis being useless. Often it's an unblockable 4/4 or a great rattlesnake for when your opponent would like to attack with a large creature. Genesis often makes attacking its controller a nightmare. It's also a great pod target. Of all the cards I've suggested I would recommend Genesis the most. If it's in the graveyard for a few turns it almost always wins games.

Why don't you run more tutor effects if you want to combo out for the win? like Worldly Tutor or Sylvan Tutor ?

Also, why no Mother of Runes ?

No tutors because i don't have room left, that's why. no Mother of Runes because I oriented it to a aggro-combo sense, so she is not aggro enough for me to include.

Captain Sisay ? You've got a pretty sizeable toolbox of legends in your deck. Sisay with Aurelia, the Warleader is pure gas.

September 15, 2014 3:52 p.m.

Not strong enough. it's a 2/2 for 4 cmc and i have to wait one turn to activate it. Not worthwhile. Aurelia, the Warleader is good, but to expensive to put it in. I have only one 6cmc and it's the titan (wich i'm considering taking out though) and i'm putting no more in.

Primeval Titan is banned in EDH, is it not? I heard there was a recent banlist change, so maybe its legality changed as well.

I guess Aurelia, the Warleader would fill the slot of gassy top-ender instead of the Titan.

I play with the French Banlist. Not banned there.

Okay I feel like I've missed some important message somewhere and everybody started to play creature heavy decks, but never include Lurking Predators is this actually a bad card because honestly it works really well for me. I will admit that I mostly play multiplayer commander and when I play 1v1 it's with the same banlist, but I've had reasonable success stalling the early game and then just overwhelming my opponent with the sheer number of creatures I could put into play. Also I may be wrong but as I recall Fastbond Isn't banned on the French list I would probably consider running that. Also no Sneak Attack I mean you're running Survival of the Fittest may as well run his partner in crime and just win with it. Oh well that's just my opinion if you want feel free to educate me on the proper way to play the French 1v1 commander ;)

September 16, 2014 8:14 a.m.

for starters lurking predator is a multiplayer card. Too expensive and too circumstantial card. Don't really need Fastbond , and I don't know about Sneak Attack

The reason why cards like Gruul Ragebeast and Lurking Predators are not good 1vs1 cards: they are too expensive for an effect that's too circumstantial. The goal in a 1vs1 game is either to combo out and win as fast as possible (I can OTK on T4) or have cards that have a good synergy between them. for example Earthcraft +Marath, Will of the Wild +Purphoros, God of the Forge is stupidly good. Survival of the Fittest is fundamentaly better than Sneak Attack because it allows you to play with the graveyard while looking for the current problem solution, while Sneak Attack doesn't.

Like I said about Captain Sisay . That is an extremely bad card in 1vs1: poor constitution (2/2 for 4) with no immediate effect, i have to wait a whole turn to use it, while for example Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker just wins the game by itself while it hits the board.

Same thing for Nightshade Peddler against Ulvenwald Tracker : I have to wait one turn to use one while i don't with the other.

In multiplayer you think of casual and playing goodstuff, in 1vs1, IMO, you ought to look for good, rapid cards that impact the board each time one comes into play. That's what i think about it, take it or not, none of my business

Considering the fact that you're running Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker and Zealous Conscripts it would give you a turn 5 instant win with Sneak Attack and Survival of the Fittest and as you made the point of having to effect the board when they're played both are basically answer them or die cards because your opponent has to allow for the possibility that this will be his last turn if either stays in play for 2 or more turns. So again I do not play 1v1 with the french banlist i do however compete in casual tournements and this combo is always scary to go against. I'm only trying to suggest improvements to the your deck so don't hate me for being stubborn.

September 17, 2014 2:30 p.m.

I don't hate you in any way don't worry and let's not start to fight he? I recognise the end of my last comment could be misinterpreted. As for the banlist, this is an EDH I built for official tournaments, so the french banlist is kinda mandatory, wich is why i'm swetting bad because a lot of rumors place marath on the banroll for KTK.

Ah and the t4 kill goes: t1 mana dork, t2 Survival of the Fittest go, pass t3 with all lands untapped, the end of the opponent's turn: discard a creature, fetch Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker then discard it to fetch Zealous Conscripts then discard it to fetch Karmic Guide , then t4 play karmic and win.

You might benefit from having a Slayers' Stronghold or Sunhome, Fortress of the Legion , or even a Yavimaya Hollow .

Maybe Soul's Might ?

September 23, 2014 12:30 p.m.

Solid Deck, Only issue I could see is the lack of basic lands in this deck, with relatively cheap non-basic land destruction coming from, Ruination , From the Ashes , and BloodMoon it seems to be a shortcoming, a very circumstantial one if anything, but still.

Ajani is good, but I don't have any room to put him in, and the lion isn't just good enough.

February 26, 2015 1:59 p.m.

Since this is a French banlist (i.e. 1v1) list, you may want to put this under the Duel Commander tag.

February 26, 2015 3:25 p.m.

I know it would the upper end of your curve but maybe Gisela, Blade of Goldnight

February 28, 2015 5:13 a.m.

Well 7CMC is a lot, and the only slot I have filled for it right now is Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite. I agree that Gisela has a good impact on the board, but I believe that Norn has a bigger impact, because it kills the opponent's creatures, and pumps up Marath's tokens, for 1 mana a 3/3, and for gisela they just hit for 2.

What's going on with Banefire? Seems underwhelming.

March 1, 2015 10:31 a.m.

As said earlier, it is just a way to kill against a control deck when I have a lot of mana, or when I can't go through with my creatures.

I was reading down your comment list and a lot of things (Stormbreath vs Thundermaw, etc.) seem to come down to sideboard arguments; I'm fairly ignorant of the grand Prix rules, but does it allow you to have a sideboard to switch cards in during the period after generals are announced? If so, why not consider the idea of including one for the sake of meta calls>

March 4, 2015 5:40 p.m.

Solid deck. +1!

March 4, 2015 7:09 p.m.

@SilverF1sh: no sideboards allowed in EDH

March 5, 2015 12:38 p.m.

Also after having seen the DTK spoilers, I think Dromoka Dragonlord is gonna make a nest into my deck.
