I love this guy. He's surpisingly good, but red adds disappointingly little to the deck. Ghave, Guru of Spores is in better colors, but Marath, Will of the Wild is a better creature.

The deck is mana-thirsty.

Maindeck Silence, Stonecloaker and Angel of Finality are decisions made against my meta.

Viridian Joiner and Gyre Sage both do the same thing here and that thing is beautiful. They were never meant to get such cheap +1/+1 counters. Fertilid and Perilous Forays also shine in this deck.

I am running a big recursion package. It's very tricky and you have to practice it, especially Survival of the Fittest. Life from the Loam + Genesis] + Survival of the Fittest + Karmic Guide + Reveillark + Eternal Witness + Twilight Shepherd.

In response to an effect that will destroy Reveillark, use Survival of the Fittest to get Karmic Guide and something big into the graveyard, e.g. Woodfall Primus, Twilight Shepherd. If it's a wrath effect that's killing Reveillark, then Twilight Shepherd is good. Then pick the most relevant two power creature, such as Acidic Slime, Eternal Witness, Stoneforge Mystic or Duplicant. Now Reveillark is bringing back Karmic Guide and your toolbox creature, and you have a powerful swing in your favor. Sometimes this is so good that I wrath my own board to make it happen.

If you stack things right you can reanimate Kozilek, Butcher of Truth onto the battlefield. He's actually in the deck to hose milling/graveyard stealing decks, though, particularly in conjunction with Survival of the Fittest.

One thing I've found through playtesting is that I don't like anthems. I really rely on my Marath going back to the command zone when he loses his counters so that I can cast him again. I frequently cast him 5+ times in a game. One exception to that is Eldrazi Monument, which lets you get rid of Marath when he's out of counters. The deck is sadly lacking in sacrifice outlets, which is why Goblin Bombardment makes the cut. Fanatical Devotion was also in consideration.

This deck is mana hungry. You are always using all of it every turn. Garruk Wildspeaker and Xenagos, the Reveler are mostly used for their +1's. I had a version of this deck with Braid of Fire to feed the beast but I found that I want to spend mana at opponent's EOT step, not in my upkeep.

Sideboard:

Suture Priest is there against infinite combo decks that involve lots of creatures entering the battlefield. The rest of the sideboard cards are hate against countermagic and hate against artifacts.
