Hello people.

This is a budget Marchesa, the Black Rose deck that I've been working on recently. Its artifact based, in more ways than just slamming modular creatures in, with lots of intricate combinations and the ability to pop off and be a real threat. In cardmarket.com, using shopping wizard, can get all the cards in this deck for 140€, which is not the cheapest of the budget edh decks, but is very reasonable. I'm still playtesting it, but the results with the current decklist are making me very happy. Any help is welcome. WIP

Though Marchesa, the Black Rose comes already equiped with a mechanich to put +1/+1 counters on everyone, it isn't the most reliable and being able to get those counters by other means is extremly valuable.

  • Unspeakable Symbol: All star in the deck and every Marchesa deck. +1/+1 counters on demand and the ability to reduce your own life total to enable dethrone. Simple and effective.

  • Arcbound Ravager: One of the main cards of the deck and one of the more expensive ones. Modular makes the creature virtualy immortal with Marchesa out, can give +1/+1 counters to any other artifact creature, can sacrifice itself in case of tucking/exile, it's a sac outlet for every other artifact in the deck and can make unreasonably large threats. All that for 2 mana.

  • Arcbound Reclaimer: Next of the modular creatures, offers great artifact recursión along side all the benefits of modular in this deck.

  • Scrapyard Recombiner: Last of the modular creatures and my favorite one at that. Can sac artifacts to tutor for some spicy cards like Thought Monitor, Treasure Keeper and Steel Overseer. But my favorite target is Kuldotha Forgemaster for some sick, game winning, dad and son jokes. Overall a very versatile creature.

  • Steel Overseer: Taps and gives every artifact creature a +1/+1 counter. No need to explain anything further.

  • Cytoplast Manipulator: Instead of placing more modular creatures in the deck, which most of them are mediocre after the three already included, I favored a second keyword, graft. This one synergizes incredibly well with Marchesa, and makes it's creatures immortal in the same way modular does. And it even gives +1/+1 counters to our non-artifact creatures, which was the big selling point of this creatures. Cytoplast Manipulator in particular is a powerhouse, being able to chain steal enemy creatures without excesive set-up (just Marchesa and a sac outlet most of the time. Add a haste enabler ond go nuts).

  • Vigean Graftmage: The other graft creature, being pretty mediocre in most places, in this deck is a powerhouse aswel. I's activated ability allows for the abuse of incredible effects like the ones of Master Transmuter, Priest of Forgotten Gods, Priest of Yawgmoth or Goblin Welder. Insane card in this build.

  • Fain, the Broker: I was sceptical about this card at first but playtesting proved me otherwise. Very versatile being able to sac any creature, give +1/+1 counters to anyone and produce a treasure in a pinch if you need it.

  • Ashnod's Transmogrant: Part of the Salvaging Station Package, just does its job very well in this deck. Gives +1/+1 counters and makes non-artifact creatures into artifacts, a very valuable effect in the deck.

  • Sparring Construct: Gives +1/+1 counters to anyone and easily abusable by Marchesa. Fairly good for a 1 drop.

This deck features numerous intrincacies and combinations: a small Salvaging Station package, Master Transmuter + Spine of Ish Sah type of shenanigans and a Fleshwrither toolbox. This makes the deck more versatile, more convoluted and overall more fun to pilot for me.

Since this is a WIP, more panels will be written in the future, aswel as any update migh happen. My objective is always maintain it below 150€ in cardmarket.com using shopping wizard. Since english is not my main language, there might be errors with spelling and odd grammar.
