Back from vacation in Sultai Land —Nov. 8, 2014

Added Goblin Rabblemaster, Seeker of the Way, and Ashcloud Phoenix and streamlined the deck overall. Added planeswalkers to sideboard.

Went 3-1 at a small tournament then split the prize for 1st. Although I was winning a good percentage of the time, it wasn't pretty. The Seekers and Phoenixes proved to be great additions. The Rabblemasters were hit or miss - either really good or really bad. Good enough to keep for now.

I frequently felt constrained on mana. I'm pretty sure the deck's curve has crept up enough that I need to bring in a 23rd land.

I also feel the need to add a burn spell that does 4 damage. Lightning Strike is great and deals with a lot of threats, but getting 1 more point is important to kill things like Coursers, Brimaz, Butchers. I have answers to these things, but I want a little bit more.

Last, I feel like I do too much damage to myself between painlands and Thoughtseize. I have a number of lifelink sources, but it isn't reliable enough to deal with that much self-inflicted pain on top of whatever the opponent does.

So I am removing 1 Lightning Strike and both Thoughtseizes, while bringing in 1 Temple from the sideboard and adding 2 Mardu Charms. Stoke the Flames would be another option as a burn spell, but I'm worried about putting too many RR spells in. Plus neither of my LGS's have them in stock.

I now have an open sideboard slot. I will plan on getting another Sarkhan for that spot, but may change my mind.

Nice Brew, here some suggestions from another Marduplayer.

-Why only 3 Butcher ? He is the firstplace Wincon in every Mardudeck, you opp. have to answer him immediately.

  • Try the Herald of Torment in some testruns, later in game he morph 2/1 warriors into big nasty 5/4 flyers.

  • and last but not least perhaps the Rabbelmaster ? or better why no Rabbelmaster ?

anywaygood luck further+1 ;)Unite the Tribes !!!

All great cards, the problem is finding room and keeping the curve low.

  • Butcher sits in the highest slot in maindeck, shared with Sorin and Utter End. This is the most likely to happen though, since 1 card won't disrupt too much.
  • Herald of Toment I've considered before. My current 3-drops are staying for sure, and replacing cheaper cards is hard. I'd put in Athreos or a couple more Tymaret's in place of the Skullhunters before I'd go Herald, and I don't want to shift my curve higher than that.
  • Rabblemaster runs into all the same issues as Herald. He would fit in extremely well though, if I can find somewhere to put him.
