Introduction

Hello there, this is my Budget Mardu deck. This Deck mainly involves buffing Butcher of The Horde and sacrificing Bloodsoaked Champion or Flamewake Phoenix to activate the good ol' Butcher's affect. Don't worry though, even though you are sacrificing them, they can regenerate. So don't feel to bad. There is also some token stuff going on, but that is not too important, but I guess you can sacrifice those as well...

So why do I run these cards?

Well there are many reasons why I run these cards, but before I explain that I should probably explain what the main objective of this deck is supposed to do. The deck is meant to slowly burn your opponent as well as buff Butcher of the Horde to help you survive through the mid to late game, while overwhelming the field with tokens. A lot of the cards in this deck, are low man cost so it should not be a problem getting them out, your only heavily expensive card is Dragonlord Kolaghan herself; however, you don't have to worry about that.

As you can see the deck revolves mainly off of sacrificing creatures such as Bloodsoaked Champion, Flamewake Phoenix, and your Tokens to activate Butcher of the Horde's affect. This is important because Butcher of the Horde gains one of the following: vigilance, haste, or lifelink until the end of the turn for every creature you sacrifice. So it is possible to get all three abilities just by sacrificing either Flamewake Phoenix and/or Bloodsoaked Champion because they can regenerate and comeback; think of them as early fuel until you can get your tokens out. The main ability to focus on, however, on Butcher of the Horde, is its lifelink. This is the reason why we want to buff him. This is possible due to the Citadel Siege's Khans ability. Its Khans ability puts two +1/+1 counters on a target creature at the beginning of combat. This is why I run four of them, so that you can either spread the counters around or put them all on one creature (NOTE: Use the Dragons ability if you find yourself being cornered, again this is why I run four just in case). There will be a point in the game, where your opponent cannot deal with your Butcher of the Horde as well as all your tokens.

Flamewake Phoenix also has another role in this deck, it is not just Butcher of the Horde's fuel. Since it has to attack every turn if possible, it is most likely going to die by being blocked to death and nothing will be gained from it, this is why we have the Boltwing Marauder and Kolaghan, the Storm's Fury. Boltwing Marauder will give Flamewake Phoenix a +2/+0 every time it attacks, and if you have both Boltwing Marauders out it gets a +4/+0 turning it into a 6/2 creature. Kolaghan, the Storm's Fury gives all your creatures a +1/+0 every time a dragon attacks, this combined with both Boltwing Marauders can make you Flamewake Phoenix a 7/2 allowing you to at least sack off the creature blocking Flamewake Phoenix. Tymaret, the Murder King is just there to burn your enimies by sacrificing your creatures. It also can return itself from the grave to your hand by sacrificing a creature. So you don't have to worry about him being gone forever since he is pretty easy to get rid of. Dragonlord Kolaghan is in the deck to give all your creatures haste, including your tokens, as well as to annoy your opponent. Mardu Ascendancy is the source of all your tokens. Flamewake Phoenix insures that you will have a token out since it must attack. Crackling doom is a burn as well as an answer to your enemies largest hitter. Murderous Cut and Ultimate Price is to help get rid of unwanted creatures. Kolaghan's command is there to help bring back any fallen creatures, burn, have your enemy discard a card, or destroy an artifact. That is all there is too this deck. It is a really simple and fun deck to use.

I hope you guys enjoy this deck, and feel free to leave any feedback or suggestions.
