My league uses a modified rule set so cards like Divinity of Pride and Serra Ascendant end up being much less useful basically you have to double the life required. so for divinity of pride in my league i need 50 life before it takes effect. While that still isn't very hard to do it does lessen some of the appeal of those type of cards.

Divinity of Pride + Gray Merchant of Asphodel scares me.

If you are stubborn and refuse too then you must run Vizkopa Guildmage, kills everyone for 9 mana (usually). Serra Avatar + Miren, the Moaning Well or Essence Harvest, there is another sorcery for (b)(b) that does it too but sacs the creature.

erebos is another amazing card for life gaining decks, you stop everyone else from gaining life (easier to kill) and you can easily pay life and 2 mana to draw a card, indestructible and can be a beater to boot!

Obzedat's Aid is another great card because you can bring Sorin Markov back and hit someone else down to 10 ha ha
