I had actually given thought to replacing it with Rise of the Dark Realms . 2 more mana but it typically packs a game winning punch.

Rise is actually an even worse option BECAUSE it costs 2 more and still doesn't win you the game on the spot (most of the time).

When half or more of an opponents creatures are in their graveyard, it typically is (from my experience). More effective against a creature heavy deck, but would more than likely get sideboarded against a deck with few creatures along with several of the removal spells in favor of counters.

Replace Cancel with Dissolve.
Take Vraska out. Replace her with something better.
September 26, 2013 11:46 p.m.
Also, taking Vraska out means you can take out the promenades.

Vraska I thought was a nice addition. Being I can swing with an unblockable (Rogue's Passage ) assassin that wins the game on the third turn she's in play regardless of circumstances isn't half bad. Not to mention she can be used for removal if that's needed more. I'll see what else I can use though, she isn't necessary for the primary function of this deck.

I've been testing this deck (because milling is the only side of blue I enjoy) and just found that she really slowed down an already slow deck, especially with the promenades.
I also found that against fliers, this deck kind of got smashed, so I removed Vraska in favour of Hover Barriers.

Hover Barriers make for a great replacements for Wall of Frost against a flier heavy deck. That's more of a side board option in my opinion because there aren't many decks that can produce enough fliers to be a problem. The sheer amount of removal in this deck is substantial and should be adequate against most decks that sprinkle fliers here and there. I also replaced the counters with additional removal as I feel removals play a more important role in this deck. Of course there are plenty counters on the sideboard to be used in place of removal against decks with few creatures.

Looks good, Id recommend some walls and flyers, check out my spin on Dimir/Mill/Control its called Mill Monstrosity let me know what you think or would change! +1 is always a bonus
I think you could benefit from Far / Away as well as more counter magic, you have a good amount of creature removal but not a single non creature counter spell, for that id recommend Psychic Strike counter + mill. I also highly disagree with Traumatize at 5 CMC id much rather play Jace, Memory Adept and mill 10 per turn, also by turn 5 you more than likely will mill 20ish cards possibly more depending on the hand, making a T5 Traumatize lose a lot of its value, that being said I would remove it completely for Psychic Strike or even Far / Away anything to protect Jace is well worth it, Jace does the mill game best so protect him at all costs. Lastly, you need defense against flying, for that I would recommend Hover Barrier cheap and super effective, it makes a beautiful T3. Hopefully that helps you out or gives you a better idea of what you want to do as far as improving the deck. +1 from me for Dimir! Best guild ever.

The stupid amounts of removal is enough to handle fliers in almost any deck. Never had a problem with that really, at least against the deck's I've faced. I have Dissolve and Psychic Strike on the sideboard to go up against stuff like other control or burn decks, but I have found that the removals have served me better than the counters. Traumatize is ridiculous really, I love it. When you can buff your creatures on the board that much on turn 5 (Nighthowler & Wight of Precinct Six ), it changes the pace of the game. I've played with this deck many many many times and that card keeps proving itself time and time again.

Thanks! I agree I have won with a 20+/20+ unblockable Aberration plenty lol. Or even getting the Wight or Nighthowler to 10+/10+ and swinging a couple turns.

Very much appreciated. I'm in the fine tuning mode of this deck, though working night shift prevents me from dominating FNM this far. No doubt this would be a high place finisher in a very competitive FNM setting.

Im trying out this deck with some proxies. But I cant afford now 2 ashiok and 4 thoughtseizes. What you suggest me to add in place of them? +1 tho

I'd suggest Duress which is similar, though you can't choose a creature. Works to get rid of Planewalkers, is playable on turn 1, and you still get to see their entire hand to know what to expect.
In place of Ashiok, honestly, is probably more removal like Hero's Downfall , Death's Approach , or Devour Flesh .

Thanks. This deck mills well, but it's actually more likely to take the opponent down to 0 life as it is to mill them out. It wins both ways :)

Hello again :) im trying this deck (kinda. Without Thoughtseize and Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver ) but i find it really difficult to hold early game. Can you help me maybe and also on Jace, Memory Adept do you go for the -7 ability or keep spamming the +0?

Thoughtseize and Ashiok are extremely useful early game. That's part of the early game issues you're having right now. And once you get Jace out, spam +0 ability

I wouldn't really call this competitive it is an almost auto loss to mono blue or black devotion and boros. You could probably pick up a few games against esper but that is about it. I wouldn't do a meta game break down if you didn't call your deck competitive but since you said I have to say the best thing you can probably do is splash white for shinx rev add control and go esper. As mill is just too slow. I do love this deck as a casual deck and this is a fantastic casual deck that can probably pick up a few FNM games but this is usually the deck that loses round one and just spend the rest of the time destroying the losers bracket.
anyway +1 for for having an awesome deck I just think if your gunna call it competitive it should be a deck you would take to a grand prix.

Why are you even bothering with Colossal Whale? It's a 7 drop without immediate board presence and doesn't guarantee a win as a 7 drop should. It should be cut ASAP.
