Still need to get my hands on them though as well as Ratchet Bomb for aggro decks that can empty their hands in 3 turns (too fast for me to remove one by one)

Yea Ratchet Bomb is awesome, especially if u get it early and have a chance to let it build before the threat u intend to use it on hits the field. Even if they don't play the threat because of Ratchet Bomb it still solves the problem! xD
U obviously r like me and enjoy the aesthetics of pimping out ur deck. I recommend the Unhinged lands. Yea they're 5$ a piece, but they look beautiful. [ UNH ]

needs Elixir of Immortality at the least in the sb, although rarely seen Jace, Memory Adept is still standard.

Why the need for that when I've got 4x Hero's Downfall , 4x Thoughtseize , and I should have at least a couple Pithing Needle s added to the sideboard shortly. I have enough ways to pick it out of the opponent's hand or remove/disable it.
December 30, 2013 6:25 p.m.
Elixir of Immortality is good for control decks. This seems to be leaning more toward a midrange list. You should be able to win before it would be needed.
December 30, 2013 7:32 p.m.
@UggyD I clearly stated that I was suggesting it for his sb against the rare but relevant mill match-up, address that if you are against my suggestion of it.
The fact that this Dimir brew Doesn't run Consuming Aberration means it Can take advantage of a card like Elixir of Immortality .
I didn't suggest it because of it's popularity surge with standard Azorius control decks right now, although it's not too far off from being relevant in that sense.
Besides, gaining 5 life and recycling your graveyard is a positive in all but a reanimator shell, aside from arguing that a more current staple could be used in it's place is the only relevant stand-point you could make, so I'll concede to that if you can suggest something better, although simply saying Hero's Downfall or Desecration Demon is easy, so whatever.

Plz remove these pesky Nighthowler . Do you ever mentioned they win u a game properly? They are just not fitting well, even with the rat-discard-thingy. You could play something more explosive.
December 31, 2013 5:16 a.m.
Nightviel Specter would fit much better with devotion and the title of your deck

I actually just put in Nighthowler after the FNM, they have been playtesting well honestly. Of course I can tinker around with Nightviel Specter. Would be nice if I was running Transguild Promenade s, but I hate the idea of exiling their cards and not being able to play them.

Looks fun to me. But why no Jace, Memory Adept or Jace, Architect of Thought ?

Did you ever think about Far / Away for the creatures you can't target

I've thought about Far / Away for hexproof/indestructible creatures. Don't have any in my possession, but that and Devour Flesh would be helpful.

And I was running Jace, Memory Adept but, in matches, I never enjoyed drawing him and traded him for another pair of Pack Rat which has a staggering board presence and difficult to remove from the board.

4x Pack Rat and 4x Mutavault is all u need to win. Pack Rat is out of line good. 2 copies and 2 vaults = 5 5/5 rats attacking at once. It's a lot to handle without a Ratchet Bomb Detention Sphere Gaze of Granite etc ready to use.
I built this deck around the same concept. Check it out. Rats Annonymous Despite what the user comments would leave u to believe. Deck wrecks shop!

Pack Rat is a common win condition, but I dont rely on it. Desecration Demon Liliana's Reaver and Nighthowler are more than capable cards to take the win on their own

Devour Flesh Seems better than Doom Blade here. Interesting deck idea, I like it.

Thanks, it holds its own against stiff competition :) and thanks for the input, I think I will be getting my hands on some Far / Away instead though. Same concept, more utility.

Yes that seems good. You just don't want three dead cards in your deck against mono black, which is either number 1 or 2 in the format right now

You need answers to hexproof. and Blood Baron of Vizkopa

Far / Away takes care of hexproof and indestructible. I may add in another couple Devour Flesh as well. I did consider the Whip of Erebos . I may sideboard it against aggro decks considering how I need to regain life after taking early hits to my life total.

Cool deck, very Dimir flavored. I'm honestly not a huge fan of Psychic Intrusion from a competitive standpoint since it's just overcosted, and against some decks like aggro, there's nothing worth paying 5 to take. Hate to be trite, but Nightveil Specter steals cards too while being cheaper and an evasive creature with high Devotion.
As someone else mentioned, you need answers for Blood Baron of Vizkopa and Hexproof, and Devour Flesh is the best way to cover both bases. You might also consider Curse of the Swine for the side for Blood Baron and Gods like Thassa, God of the Sea that wreck decks like this since Black has no answers besides getting lucky with Thoughtseize and hoping they don't topdeck one.
Finally, I just wanted to point out that it's not always best to go all-in with Pack Rat. There are quite a few cards that can beat it if you're in too deep; Detention Sphere , Cyclonic Rift , Ratchet Bomb , and Gaze of Granite come to mind, and Red's mass burns like Anger of the Gods and Mizzium Mortars can get to you too if you don't outpace them. Even mono-Green can usually put up a wall fast enough to deal with them. In the end, going all-out is usually reserved for when you're on the play and have both a Pack Rat and Mutavault early.

You have no card draw main board, meaning mid-late game this deck will always start to fall behind other decks with card advantage. You should main board either 2-3 Jace, Architect of Thought or 2-3 Underworld Connections .
AJohnson9x says... #1
Thanks, I've been needing to add four of those for control vs control match ups. I'd add those in, Underworld Connections , and Gray Merchant of Asphodel s against other control decks.
