Thanks guys, Reap Intellect I find is a pretty expensive card CMC-wise. By the time you get to 6 lands to just knock out even 2 nonland permanents, the opponent could very well have no hand and if they do, a low chance they're holding something worth while to remove. I think it's a bit of a long shot, but makes for a great looking feature card for the deck!

Happy to be your 60th upvote. This deck really is similar to my Holding {your deck here} Ransom: 1st@FNM(now18-0). I'm gonna try it out some. Looks solid.

Also, Blood Baron of Vizkopa makes me want to go grixis just for Turn / Burn .

He's a pain in the ass to deal with, though Master of Waves gives you a decent answer for him

How would you react to witchstalker or something else with hexproof if you were playing with this deck?

Easy. Desecration Demon is a 6/6, Liliana's Reaver has death touch, Pack Rat is more than capable of overpowering it, Far / Away to force a sacrifice, Thoughtseize to yank it from your hand, Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver to exile and steal it, Dimir Charm to toss it in your graveyard from your library. I think that's it.

Run Time Ebb in your sideboard for Blood Baron. Bounce him to the top of their deck and steal him with Ashiok.

I like this a lot, but I feel like it could use some draw power. Altar's Reap would actually be a pretty nice fit here, given the token production your creatures have.

I only utilize draw power against other control decks hence 3x Underworld Connections on the side. I found more utility using removal on my main board otherwise.

I did not read all the comments but i tested this a bit and I think you should drop one reaver and the 2 shipwrech singer's for devor flesh. it plays slower but i found it to shut down the aggro, and then extend into a win

I don't feel that dropping from 14 down to 11 creatures is advisable to be quite honest. Nothing against Devour Flesh , but 3x Ratchet Bomb in place of Far / Away against aggro decks has proven effective.

When I saw this deck about a month ago, I actually built it an hour later. I needed something new to take to FNM so I used this... I have to say... I was and still am quit impressed. I went 8-1 in the standard tournament. My only loss was to a R/W token deck that used Assemble the Legion and Purphoros, God of the Forge . I still have it somewhere in a deckbox or something lol. But then... I come back on.... and see this... and couldnt be happier. Everything I thought it might have needed is now in it. if I could +1 again.. I definitely would...

Thanks! Great to hear someone else succeeding with this deck. It really packs a punch and is different than the typical mono black devotion or any other U/B control deck out there

And I actually went up against a control deck running Assemble the Legion , Ratchet Bomb ed the enchantment and outpaced Elspeth with Pack Rat and won.

Controlled by the Reaper is my bug deck i used to test it against won both times(without sideboard use) but i have more of a feeling that i just lack of knowledge your deck and how its supposed to be played.
But it did take a while and both coming down to topdecks...is this supposed to happen to your deck alot???

Just a quick glance at your deck you probably played my deck wrong. Not saying your deck wouldn't win best out of 3 on any given day, I just don't see it happening 2-0 unless it was misplayed or horrendous draw luck.

thought so reason of asking. happens alot to me if i dont build the deck myself.

I think my trump card against your deck is Pack Rat and Mutavault . Your deck isn't fast enough to kill me before turn 5, I either keep Pack Rat on the board or drain your hand of two removal spells when I play it with 5 lands on the board. And with draw power from Liliana and Underworld Connections , you usually need a board wipe or they overpower any deck. With your deck I'd suggest Ratchet Bomb or AEtherize to counter token decks (Assemble the Legion , Elspeth, etc)

Any deck that uses black should strongly consider Read the Bones. This card is just too amazing to pass up, no matter what your strategy is.

sick looking deck. nice record. Don't need to playtest to know my dimir would be killed by this. (I have some trouble vs Pack Rat decks) +1. one idea perhaps, idk if it would fit in your sideboard at all but figured I'd throw it out there, Reap Intellect could be interesting here. Think Slaughter Games but extra cost to play, but you can hit more cards if lucky. I hit a architect of thought with it which was pretty funny. deck looks fine either way just figured its a way I could lend assistance.
