Welcome, initiate. You were found worthy enough to join the ranks of the true lords of the world. I speak, of course, of vampires. With our superior strength, intelligence, magic, and immortality, we are feared among both the living and dead.
As an initiate, you must learn how to wield your new powers and abilities, as well as be introduced to your new eternal allies. You've been chosen by the most powerful vampire...the very progenitor of our race, Edgar Markov to help us secure victory. With enough practice and mastery, you could even prove yourself worthy to become a lord yourself...but we're getting ahead of ourselves; we need to show you what you're capable of!
Underlings
These are the most common vampire you'll be working with. Each are powerful in their own right and even more effective in groups.
As for just simple attacking, many cards allow you to generate new vampires, including our master, Edgar. Others focused on tasting the blood of our foes more directly include Bishop of Rebirth, Drana, Liberator of Malakir, Falkenrath Aristocrat, Forerunner of the Legion, Gifted Aetherborn, Nighthawk Scavenger, Rakish Heir, Stromkirk Noble, Vampire Cutthroat, Vampire of the Dire Moon, and Vampire Nighthawk.
Other underlings will focus less on combat and more on supporting your own forces. Some will revive fallen comrades, provide mana, slowly bleed the opponent dry, convert a foe to your side, or give those who do fight more power. These include Bishop of Rebirth, Bloodletter of Aclazotz, Bloodline Keeper
, Captivating Vampire, Champion of Dusk, Charismatic Conqueror, Dusk Legion Zealot, Falkenrath Pit Fighter, Indulgent Aristocrat, Legion Lieutenant, Olivia, Mobilized for War, Shadow Alley Denizen, Thirsting Bloodlord, Twilight Prophet, Vampire Socialite, Viscera Seer, and Welcoming Vampire.
Lords and Ladies
Despite what some mortals would have you believe, we are not savages. We have rulers...lords and ladies. Ancient in both power and wisdom, they're eight in total. Each brings a little something different to the table.
Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief don't let her looks fool you. She can temporarily drain power from an opponent's creature and make it her own. She could even destroy the opposing creature to make way for smaller vampires.
Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet Traitor is a word very fitting of Kalitas. He can cause any opposing creature to return as a servant of your great dynasty. He can sacrifice these new cannon fodder to empower himself, or overwhelm the opponent.
Mavren Fein, Dusk Apostle is a commanding presence that can call forth smaller vampires to aid you. These smaller vampires will be a bit stronger than Edgar's, as they'll pass the blood ofyour enemies onto you.
Olivia Voldaren is the leading lady. She can destroy weak creatures to power herself up, or she can turn powerful foes into vampires that she can control for you. Should vampires ever oppose you, she can control them too, without 'biting' them first.
Vona, Butcher of Magan is a natural leader. She can hold her own in combat and can destroy nearly anything the opponent uses. Her ability does cost you your own blood, but with how much you should be taking from your foes, it should be of little concern.
Yahenni, Undying Partisan is unique in that he is an artificial vampire. He feeds on life energy instead of traditional blood. Should he taste vampiric energy, he becomes truly immortal for a short time.
Edgar Markov is our master. He can create new vampires to compliment the old, make older ones more powerful, and join in on the attack himself. Truly, one could not ask for a more noble master to follow.
Removing Pests
As a lord of the night, some may try to stop your agenda. Fools! They are but dust to us! Remind them of their place with spells like Dreadbore, Hero's Downfall, Swords to Plowshares, Bedevil or Utter End.
Should you need to deal with large numbers of foes, try Black Sun's Zenith, Merciless Eviction or Kindred Dominance.
If what you seek to destroy is a what and not a who, try Shattering Spree.
Supporting Your Position
It takes more than blades and fangs to secure victory. As a vampire you crave to feast on the blood of foes. Whip of Erebos, Exsanguinate, and Malakir Bloodwitch can allow you to accumulate life at the expense of your opponent.
One also needs draw power to lead your forces. Sign in Blood, Read the Bones, or Underworld Connections can allow you to keep your hand full.
Boros Charm can limit your weakness to mass removal.
Pumping Your Creatures
One of the greatest skills you can have is to take a normal vampire and turn it into a lethal weapon. You can make your foot-soldiers stronger with things like Icon of Ancestry, Door of Destinies, Sorin, Lord of Innistrad, Shared Animosity, or Stensia Masquerade can pump them with power.
