I am looking forward to seeing this deck finally in action, bro. +1 for me to see all the rage happen.

Golgari Grave-Troll is a much better dredge card as it dredges far more than Grave-Shell. Life from the Loam is also great. Lotleth Troll should be included in almost every instance of B/G decks. And Overgrown Tomb , while a tad expensive, are a must.

@daemon_panda Golgari Grave-Troll might just be a better alternative than Grave-Shell Scarab , only because of his regenerate ability. Grave-Shell was in because it could block decently. Specifically, block a big creature, use it's sacrifice ability, much like one could with Sakura-Tribe Elder , and get it back with it's cheap dredge ability so I can continue to block if I don't have anything in hand for whatever reason. Life from the Loam is good, I'll throw it into the sideboard just in case. If I were to include Lotleth Troll , he'd likely be nothing more than a chump blocker. Lastly, I've wanted to throw Overgrown Tomb in, but it, by itself, doubles the price of the deck. If this wasn't a budget deck, It'd have already been in. I appreciate the suggestions! I'll playtest with the Grave-Troll, Life from the Loam, and a bit with Lotleth Troll.

My comment came out a bit more snappy than it should have been. Sorry.

I always find Lotleth Troll to be an amazing tool, especially to toss things into the graveyard. Even if you don't expect to swing with him, you can use him to chuck your dredge into the graveyard.

@daemon_panda Naw, man. Don't worry about it. You were just tryin' to help.

Lotleth Troll is amazing, don't get me wrong. He'd be a situational creature here, but thinking about it now, it would be significantly easier to get the dredge into the graveyard using his discard ability. I just need to play test this with my gaming group. Been waiting on a few cards for a while. Again, I appreciate the suggestion/comments.

I was searching for a good but affordable Golgari Deck to have as an alternative for my artifact deck, and this is just too perfect! I love it!

I'm definitely building and buying this deck! Thanks! +1 From me!

I would also advise Gatecreeper Vine over Sakura-Tribe Elder . It doesn't require you to sacrifice anything and has value as a blocker. You could also try running Golgari Guildgate or Temple of Malady to help with mana.

@daemon_panda Actually, I'd say that Sakura-Tribe Elder is awesome here. It fills up your graveyard and puts the land directly onto the battlefield rather than just into your hand. And, to be entirely honest, a 0/2 defender isn't going to be doing to much to advance your board position, especially when the graveyard is empty and you need something to get Splinterfright going.

Lord of Extinction would be good here especially as his main weakness is lack of evasion which Jarad fixes, however a couple of copies would probably double the cost of your deck

@QuliQ Oh geez. Lord of Extinction is really nice. Yeah, he might not have a place here, unfortunately, but I was considering making a non-budget version of this deck to go wild with. I'll keep him in mind. Thanks!

@sexytaco Yeah, I've realized that. It's unfortunate, since he's a really good card. I just haven't taken the time to take him out of the maybe board. Thanks!

Woah! I really love this deck, what do you think about Golgari Thug for the deck?

I had a build similar to this when Return to Ravnica first came out except it was standard and I utilized both Boneyard Wurm and more importantly Essence Harvest which is an absolute beast when you get big creatures out and then you can double up the life loss by sacrificing the creature with Jarad.

Im surprised to see that Mortivore isn't in this deck. I think he has a place, because it also counts your opponent's graveyards. Golgari Charm would also be a good sideboard against decks running field wipes. Really cool deck, looks fun! :)

What about Rite of Consumption ? You just have to sacrifice a huge Nighthowler, Splinterfright or Ghoultree to hit like a friggin truck

@sexytaco: Just FYI as an update to this deck. I looked on the banned list for Modern and Golgari Grave-Troll is no longer banned. This is as of Aug. 2015. On a side note, I love the name my taco loving friend.

The deck looks great and I'm really interested in trying it out. +1 for sure!

Just finished a deck that was inspired by yours. Thanks for the great suggestions. +1 and if you don't mind, I'd love some feedback on the one I made:
