Hey ChiefWannaHacka i have been building my own mayael deck for the past months, taking alot of suggestions from your deck.

But i have a few questions about why you use theese cards and why not others.

Archetype of Endurance why dont you use this one?

Also do you feel Exploration is worthy a spot in the deck or does it sometimes cause nuisance?

How is the deck with all the planeswalkers? i dont have Xenagos, The Reveler but i can fill it with Karn Liberated what do you think about him?

I want to try the planeswalker way!

Have you ever considered Mayael's Aria ?

The problem with Mayael's Aria in a deck like this is speed. It's a great card for a combo win with Mossbridge Troll but in a 100 card format, where you're competing with decks built around dropping a consistent win-condition, you'll want to do just that, build around it.

Mayael functions best when she can just flop big value creatures on the board and run people over with them. Her win condition is fatty-swarm, and Mayael's Aria doesn't contribute very well to that plan. It just incrementally makes your stuff better, when you could be using the three mana for top deck manipulation, ramp or removal.

@ ChiefWannaHacka What do you think about that new Temur mythic with Ferocious See the Unwritten ...6 mana to drop 2 creatures off the top 8 cards seems ok. I don't like the one-shottedness of it, but 6 mana for two fatties does seem good.

Whoah, hell, I'm gonna have to secure a See the Unwritten for myself!

@Verim Archetype of Endurance is neat, but I didn't think it was efficient enough for the deck. God forbid you have it in your hand, and it does nothing to stop Wraths. Since they make up most of the removal in the format, it ended up not doing too well. Also it's hella expensive to hard cast.

  • Exploration is amazing on turn 1, after that it's kind of just icing. It helps a lot when you draw tons of cards, and Nekusar, the Mindrazer is popular in my meta.

  • The walkers are more a preference thing. I don't own a Karn, and I like the lasting effects of PW's. They are also harder for people to deal with sometimes.

@Phailen Mayael's Aria faces all the same problems that MindAblaze! mentioned. For me it's too slow and doesn't do enough. Most things in here that aren't creatures are accelerants, card drawmanipulationselection, or protection.

@MindAblaze! Yeah it seems good, not sure about the one shot effect either, but let's be real with the topdeck manipulation I have here, I could feasibly flips 2 game enders often.

For sure. That's what I was thinking...like a cheaper Tooth and Nail with a more limited sphere of influence.

Do you think you'll add some of the off color fetches now that Flooded Strand and Bloodstained Mire will be more readily accessible?

Hey ChiefWannaHacka

What do you think about Defense of the Heart ?

Too slow ? its basically an Tooth and Nail on an enchantment

September 7, 2014 6:53 p.m.

@MindAblaze! Maybe, but because we lack Deathrite Shaman I'm not sure if it's great. I mean we have access to Skyshroud Claim and Nature's Lore .

@Verim It's very good, but can be played around. I used to have it. My copy just got damaged and I haven't picked up another.

I've started using Lotus Cobra and Crucible of Worlds to get the most out of mine. Makes Admonition Angel one of my best creatures too.

September 7, 2014 10:11 p.m.

I could imagine. It might be worth looking into to really act as acceleration/removal.

True Conviction or Academy Rector ? i have tried both and they seem pretty good with eachother

True Conviction feels strong and overwhelming for opponents if they dont have a removal in hand with mana open. But it can fall into the category of winmore.

Academy Rector can bring any enchantment to you, Lurking Predators , Archetype of Endurance , Privileged Position all of them done wonder with her

So what do you think about it?

I would say its a great card, but i run this in my Bruna edh deck and i would say it gets dealt with more often then not. Everyone that is running white in magic will put Path to Exile and Swords to Plowshares in their deck. Even cards like Terminus or Unexpectedly Absent will deal with it nicely.

Personally i would leave it out but hey, what ever floats your boat.

September 8, 2014 10:01 a.m.

I used to run True Conviction , but you hit the nail on the head. It's simply just a win-more card.

Academy Rector is also pretty lackluster, since it's basically Enlightened Tutor on steroids but I have to invest more time/mana into it. I also can't flip it with mayael or grab it with Green Sun's Zenith , which is a big deal for a utility creature slot.

Illusionist's Bracers might be a good addition to the deck.

In my experience Mayael the Anima only gets one or two triggers before she gets killed by ether a kill spell or boardwipe. So spending 5 mana on Mayael for her to double her ability is alittle lack luster in my opinion. I usually get to play her, then one turn passes. After that i get to use her once in responce to a kill spell if she isnt countered or killed by then. ( Which is the correct choice by my enemies. 1 trigger can change the game )

Chief do you like Rings of Brighthearth ? I have the ability to pick one up but im not sure if its worth or not. Mainly do to the same reason i dont like the bracers.

October 1, 2014 2:23 p.m.

If you use other activated abilities, I.E. Planewalkers, or top/rack, or other random things, it is amazing. It is really helpful in just creating mini advantage your opponents don't think about.

@ Komamura I find she gets way more value if you can afford to wait until you have some form of protection on the board, whether it's Privileged Position , Lightning Greaves or whatever flavor you may choose, it helps.

@ HeroInMyOwnMind Digging through the top 10 with Illusionist's Bracers was awesome, but from my experience, there are more valuable things you can be doing. In the end, I cut it for more ramp.

What do you guys think of the new card Siege Behemoth spoiled in the Green C14 deck.

Siege Behemoth

Creature - Beast

Hexproof

As long as Siege Behemoth is attacking, for each creature you control, you may have that creature assign it's combat damage as though it weren't blocked.

7/4

thewyzman says... #21

That sounds awfully OP. You don't even have to swing with anything other than the Behe to deal combat damage from your other guys?

October 31, 2014 1:48 p.m.

MindAblaze says... #22

No, your creatures would have to be attacking as well in order to deal Combat damage.

October 31, 2014 1:52 p.m.

He sounds like a sweet alpha enabler! Definitely getting put somewhere.

I run a version of this with Avacyn + Archetype of Endurance + Platinum Angel.

With things like Lurking Predators and Worldly Tutor its not that hard to get the combo. Once either 2 or 3 of these guys are out its usually over.
